Just found it interesting because I didn't know they existed before. When I see on the hard I wonder whether it has been unused for a considerable period of time and if so why.

On of my all time favorite designs. It seems that europeans often cruise over a number of years and leave their Ovni on the hard until the next year's cruising season. Just saw this one a few days ago. You can see the centre board in the second photo and the rudder in the first. The bottom of the rudder pivots for shallow water access.

Pretty sure it is a Viking 30 designed by Ben Lexcen when he was Bob Miller. Based on the legendary Gingko design - sort of cods head and mackeral tail shape but in 30' and a wider tail than Gingko relatively speaking. Apparently about 50 built. Google for numerous links. Reasonably honest yacht as far as I know.
I saw that also, I would say extremely cheap, they do seem to be a premium TS though perhaps the 25 is more desirable with a lower tow weight. I would be heading to Phillip Is to have a look at this if I was looking for a 30ft anything!

Ok great thanks for letting me know I am not an IT guru and thought I mucked it up. Be interesting to know what the winning tender bid was. I bought a tender listed written off Santana 22 hull off an insurance company in the early 2000s and put a cut-down E22 mast on, J24 jib and Spider 28 cut-down main. For someone who wants to put the work in this boat should be good value assuming no structural damage just usual age based cosmetic stuff.

A lovely boat, but the teak deck looks pretty gnarly in places. That'd be a lot of work or money to fix.
Yes, I did notice the timber deck and thought the same. Although an 80's Yacht next to me has a timber deck that has held up well over the years. It has a clear coat over it (not a stain} and suspended shade cloth over it, when in dock. The owner is a retired shipwright, I will have to ask him, what he has used.
Is the teak only really a concern if it is screwed rather than just glued? If the deck is glass without penetrations is a light sand, oil and sail away on the cards?

These Alubat boats seem very controversial. I was looking at one and the question that kept on popping up was the range of positive stability(AVS) Many of them have low numbers like 100 to 105 degree and many early designs wont even pass CE Cat A. You either believer or disbeliever in the importance of this issue. I really dont want to be sailing on a boat that wont self right or relies on the actions of the next big one to do the job for you. The Alubat company does not make the data freely available for public scrutiny which adds to the nervousness some buyers have. The Dudley Dix pilot house designs look like they have some excellent numbers and makes sense when you consider the volume of the pilot house if you can maintain its watertight integrity. I am still in the market but get buyers nerves every time I spot something decent.
