We had a look at this Noelex 30.....What a shame.
It had sunk, the mast was bent and not salvageable, the motor was shot and the trailer completely shot.
From the outside it looked like a great project. I was talking to the owner who was an elderly gentleman, and I mean gentleman, when my wife went down below. The look on her face when she came out said all I needed to know.
The inside was a complete train wreck.
I did a search when we got home and found the YouTube selling video. Beautiful boat a few years ago.
It was very sad to see.

The funny thing was, we discussed for days afterwards the pros and cons of taking it on. We had access to the resources and the ability to take on the restoration. A good 12 months we estimated.

I called the seller and they said they would ring back. Never heard from them.
Cant say I am disappointed now.

If the hull is really stainless steel, then clearly it would have been an "amateur" who made that decision. Its well known fact that stainless steel breaks down rapidly when submerged. Even super corrosion resistant stainless steel like Duplex breaks down leaving you with more headaches than a mild steel hull. Corten would have been a better choice and is proven in steel hull construction. The ad is not very clear, maybe they only built the deck out of stainless and the hull is just regular mild steel?

Yes well my stainless steel water tanks became porous after 33 years with fresh water in them so at least some grades of stainless steel arent perfect (oxygen starvation or no oxygen starvation). The racing Northshore 38 known as the NSX came with a stainless steel keel with the lead bulb on the bottom. Any comments on this?

There are a few yachts with stainless steel keels lead filled Cold moulded Van de Stadt 34's, some of Knoop's 30 footers...

Interesting that it is not recommended for hulls but seems to be ok for keels.
Not really getting the logic.
