Ahhh, the old Battlestar, ex Superstar - what a beast! One of the classic Peterson pintail machines. She went from the quickest thing in the country to being significantly out-designed and out-built in just a few months but like all that style, she was a great looking creation until they did the cruising conversion.

I was drooling over her at MHYC when I was 15 or 16 and Syd Fisher had chartered her while he waited for his Peterson 46. Syd invited me out to the winter series race, where we had very few crew and most of them ended up chatting with the women on board, leaving a rather small teenager with the kite sheet in one hand and the brace or blooper sheet in the other, with my arms gradually getting longer! Lucky it was light and Syd was in his mellow mood, which he normally kept very well hidden.

I did a bit of racing on her when she had been sold and renamed Battlestar and still remember the feeling of her trucking along upwind under that vaaaast number one.

She seems to have been loved, which is nice, and looks a lot nicer down below these days.

I am with you on that. Of no benefit at all.
I had ENVY II, a 42 ft flat topper and there was no way a swimmer could board without a ladder.
Beats me why some people think they know better than the designer.

Another MD7A that won't start!

Morning All,

I am making my first yacht sale and after some feedback on the process.

I haven't had any calls so far so after some advice on how/ where best to advertise from those who have been through this before.

Compared to the other Farr B30s its competitively priced, last one I saw in WA sold for $45k about 6 months ago, theres two others in QLD for $37k and $70k. Could also be that its winter and people aren't looking but 0 calls is a little strange.

If you were looking to buy are there any other pictures you would want to see? Or more specific information in the description?
Also I have the yacht on the below websites as this is where I go to look, but should it be anywhere else?
Any standard contracts people use around warranties of product and information?

Newly antifouled could be expected for that kind of dollars.

The market is small in WA. Borders open, people can travel-demand down.
You have to weigh up your price vs time to sell. Holding costs.
Asking prices do not reflect actual sell price.
No calls indicate on the surface that price might need to be reduced.

Thanks Yara, appreciate the input and I will update with the above info.

Holding cost is fairly low, I own the mooring its on, so if it takes 12 months to sell then so be it. That said I also bought another larger boat and I don't think that patience is shared by all those in the household, if you get my drift.

Tough market in WA at the moment. There is a Cole 32 nearby that is a delightful boat that is down to 29 grand!

My call is the market has turned.
This is probably the result of interest rate rises and the winter.
I sold my last boat sight unseen for the asking price in the pandemic. That won't happen again for a while.
If you intend to sell do it now as the market will continue to soften and boats will be cheaper than they were before the last boom.

This is a well known boat that has been discussed on this forum previously when it was last up for sale. All boats need work and it's not unusual for boats to be given away or almost given away. Mine for example was pretty much a gift when the owner was incapacitated. In this case the owner looks like he is leaving.

Well that is/ or was a truly interesting proposition. I hope the right sort of person got hold of her

That indeed is good value. Not sure what has been done to the teak deck. Looks a bit like an epoxy finish! It's one of those boats that when in Ulladulla you can't stop purving at!
If the primary winches were shifted aft and the mainsheet went either side to winches near the wheel like modern yachts that would be easy to sail solo.

Even if the primary winches were shifted aft the headsails are still enormous :(.
Still a lovely boat at a great price subject of course to an inspection as there are so many things you just can't asess no matter how many pictures are in an ad.
