Looks clean, and new motor...

Looks good. It would be a better ad if it had one or two photos of the deck/cockpit for those people that might actually want to sail her!

Down in North Haven a couple of weeks ago to have a casual look at this one.

www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/outer-harbor/sail-boats/duncanson-37-yacht/1211327865

Did not see her but I can see now it was hidden behind the powerboat! The ad is interesting. I guess they have had a few abusive phone call/enquiries!

I like them Felix, if they come down a tad in price that's good buying.

Good to hear some encouragement Shaggy. I've been sent manifests for two of these to look at tomorrow morning. This one (Blackjack) at 99k and another (Bells Breeze) at 120k.

A

B
yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/jeanneau-sun-odyssey-40/224494

Of course if any buying is going to take place there would be a survey but for the first look, what kind of questions would you ask??

Blackjack Notes:
99k
2 cabin version which I prefer
Rigging is younger at 2014
No engine hours but $12k engine rebuild 2018
No dodger
Old sails
Soda blasted and antifouled this month

Bells Breeze Notes:
120k
3 cabin (might be fine but lean towards 2 cabin)
Private owner post charter life has put some love and attention into it, and electronics hence the higher price
No engine hours
Younger sails
2011 Rigging means i would have to start setting aside funds for re-rig already

I looked at both these boats and was less than impressed with the honesty of the selling agent:
Blackjack supposedly had a significant amount of money spent on a full engine rebuild yet it still had oil leaking from the engine:
[url=imgur.com/DFVvctR]
For a vessel that had just come out of charter, I was surprised at the state of the keel bolts:
[url=imgur.com/t451YDj]

Belles breeze had obvious issues with the deck collapsing:
[url=imgur.com/YsR6pG7]
I specifically asked the agent if this issue, which is common on the Jeanneaus was an issue on either of these two boats and the reply was that this is only an issue on the DS43. I flew to Sydney only to be dissapointed.
I was told that the owner had done a lot of work on it and this is what I saw:

Looks like a nice one Don. Interesting that they went with a single diesel engine instead of twins, but should be ok with the bow thruster to help docking. What a great platform to cruise up north on.

I'm selling my Roberts 43 Sloop. Negotiable listed at $32k.
Bilge keel and drop down mast make this unique.

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/yamba/sail-boats/roberts-43-sloop-yacht/1214133148

Huh! Here I was thinking you had an Ericson 37.
Maybe I just dreamt that bit.

IIRC it was an S&S Tartan 37...

are you a fleet owner now McNaughtical???

Ahh yes, that rings a bell, Tartan 37. It's that damn old timers disease making itself known to me once again.

Always wondered what happened to this flyer.
Went onboard just after she was launched and could have sworn
the curved cabin timbers were laminated ash/whatever.
Is Tassie where all the old boats go to die??

"Arriba" is up for sale again! I think this boat would be great for a junk rig conversion.

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/willoughby/sail-boats/wooden-boat-restoration/1217539253

Sigh - quite a saga there over the years. Borderline restorable, which I think a number of owners have discovered despite their best intentions. Mast was completely rotten when removed about 10 years ago, rest of boat was heading that way. A lot of work to be done before a rig could be contemplated, although a junk rig would suit the design.

This one is in a similar state (and location) to Arriba. Again a very borderline restoration project. although at least there is a mast. Huon pine hull, maybe.

Far form being on her death bed, she's had lot of love in recent years. Great value if you're after that style of boat, though I prefer smaller, lighter, faster.

Really like the look of these boats:

Dodger ruins this one though. Not sure I like the stove either.

Good engine and gearbox and an excellent hull design. Good interior. It's a motorsailer and as long as it was used as such it would make an excellent coastal cruiser.

Yep, it's a motorsailer but I would hazard a guess that the sailing properties are reasonable as well. I quite like it, but then I do own a Fisher.

Very intresting yacht I wonder what the history behind this one. Lovely fitout although I would prefer a duckboard transom on a yacht this size for the coin spent.

I cannot resist. One of the things you get for your money:

"2. personal meeting to Handel all maritime paperwork (Sydney)"

I guess it must be water music.

I hope the boat doesn't Liszt.

Cheaper than a mid sized house in a capital city minus the white picket fence, you don't need a lotto ticket to own one.
