The yachthub - boatsales ad sold the yacht in eight weeks with five parties interested, two serious ones.

Do this facts tell a story about gumtree or l'm just imagining things?

My Beach cat sold in a week. I did have a price that indicated that I wanted it sold though.

Only one gave me the run around but great thing now is sellers can rate buyers too. He got a rating from me that was equal to his not turning up when he made the time.

The guy who bought was very legit and trustworthy the whole time.

No. Gumtree is always worth a shot but you tend to get better quality enquiries with a paid advertisement.

Absolute giant killer in Port Phillip in late seventies early eighties out of HBYC.
Had a test sail ( race) in early eighties with view of buying. Stuff all down below back then.
Skipper was pretty upset back in 79/80 that she qualified for S/H but not
Westcoaster ,ended up doing M/D . Pity she's not orange still.

Another Ohlson 35 has just come on the market in Queensland and has jumped to the top of my favourites list. Sorry can't link on Seabreeze with my yacht's computer with Microsoft edge for some reason.

You'll have to get rid of those davits Ramona, we all know how much you dislike them, and what about that huge bimini catching the breeze and slowing you up.

Interesting to know how the elco 20hp electric motor would go.

That one has been on the market for a while and was discussed here at the time. Way overpriced and will need a new motor for serious passage making. I am still waiting for someone to tell me how the electric drive on Sailing Uma went.

Duncanson 37 in Adelaide. 29 grand. Has a saildrive and needs remedial work below the waterline. I guess osmosis but how bad can it be? Lovely fitout.

woko, It is not a matter of liking steel or not. It is matter of whether one is living onboard full time, has no shoreside committments and is able to keep rust in check on a daily basis.

Plain and simple just a fact of the matter when you own a steel yacht. One needs to be on top of the rust prevention 24/7.

People just need to realise that paint does not stick to steel unless it is sandblasted first. Acid can work on very small patches if you get back to perfectly clean metal but just like osmosis and dry rot you have to do it properly, which for steel is sandblasting and the correct coating thickness.

More than 50% of the yachts in my homeport are steel now. None of them go to sea. Sandblasting is banned at the local slips and lots of other yards these days.

There are many small sand blasters on the market which are ok to key small areas which have first been taken back with a grinder and with a bit of planning its not too messy.

That Duncanson 37 in Adelaide has had a massive price drop! Some photos of the osmosis would help. Asking $22,900 now!

I do a bit of sandblasting at home. It's also a bit of a health hazard when using real sand. More dangerous than using a Jason pistol which has caused health problems amongst ex navy members.

Come on mate, you are obviously intelligent enough to know that there's a selection of blasting meadiums available these days. I believe it maybe illegal to use sand, If you old navy boys didn't have access to respirators and other PPE then you've proably go a case against your old employer.
I spent a few decades making sawdust in one way or another that don't entitle me to bag out wooden boats, and I can promise you there's little joy in scribing in a new garboard plank on a trawler.
And while I'm having a bitch grinding glass defiantly isn't to be treated lightly.

Quoting my own posts again! Ad has changed for this lovely boat. Says the osmosis blisters are many and the size of 10 cent pieces. The engine is not turning over which is more of a worry. Would be interesting to have some history on this vessel. Talk to some of the locals etc. Seems to be a hint of desperation in the ad on yachthub. I'm guessing the seller has had numerous calls asking for photos of the bottom.
Looking at the photos the interior has no scuff marks. Only two sails and that main has perfect stitching and I'm guessing little use. Very basic sail controls etc. No extras. I reckon she has been a bit of a marina queen!
