You might be one of the younger members here! Apparently the deck is teak too, not beech as I mentioned previously. Still needs work though. None of the work required is all that difficult and someone is going to end up with excellent waterfront accommodation. Standing rigging needs replacing and not sure of the condition of the sails. Does have a furler though.

I don't really know the first thing about sailing (yet),, if it was a pinch closer to Sydney where I put my fishing boat in I'd have a good look at her. Luckily I think it sold as it is no longer available to look at

Yes "Tucantu" sold last night. Bought by an experienced yacht restorer from Sydney. Yacht will be staying here on a prime mooring.

That looks like the Freedom 33 a friend owned here. Time frame is about right and the names familiar. He used to winter in the Whitsundays and spend the other 6 months of the year here. He was always enthusiastic about the vessel but said the biggest problem was heat in the tropics. He ended up selling and building a particularly flash catamaran for the large outdoor living spaces he reckoned was necessary for living up North. He has now relocated to QLD.

There's a maroon Freedom 38 cat ketch for sale in Launceston. I think the boats call 'Free as a bird '
Came down this way about 10 years ago I think and apparently was in good nic, now not so much.
The guy told someone he got it valued at $66k a few years back but now needs alot of work.
Got pic of his number but not the rest of the boat

Cannot believe the price of this (80ft Lexcen cruising yacht, 40mm solid fg hull, $380k), wonder if the photos are recent and if the engine is ok. Terrific bit of Aussie boatbuilding history, would be great to see it back here. ~~http://www.vicsail.sydney/cordelia~~

Shaggy, I know your cruising grounds, that 3m draft presents real challenges...best leave it to us Sydney dreamers.

. That's a hell of a lot of boat for just a nuts price. It has to reflect the ongoing costs, which I'd shudder to think of knowing mine. A syndicate would be a great idea, the pain would be lessened across multiple wallets.
But what a yacht.

But this is the yacht, where the kids are gone - they have their own lives now, you sell the big house - and cruise the world for many a year, (you might buy a small unit if you still want a home to go back too)

I could easily live with a Duncanson 34, classy looking boat. Strange how this one gets advertised and no photos. Bit too much of a spur of the moment sale. I'll wait for the photos.

I think you should buy the VDS Ramona.
Looks very similar to the English-built S&S 34 that Mrs Ramona gave you permission to buy a little while ago.

This boat is a lot closer and would be a lot less hassle to get home, however, I'm pretty invested in the VDS in Sydney.

I see he careened her at the Maryborough Motor Boat Club which is one of Queensland's best kept secrets. Whoops!!! I have let the cat out of the bag now.

The Excalibur is nice, but a very old design. Your VDS is newer, faster and roomier.

Stick with the Sydney VDS. Same length but the new boat is much larger, wider, more freeboard and better fit out for a live aboard.

Giant killer! I love the size of the cockpit, which of course means it wouldn't be the most comfy on a delivery. Say $50K for a new sail wardrobe and god knows what to fix her up, and you'd have a boat that punched well above her weight division. I like this era Dubois', cool boat.

Yes. It's not bad once your in there and it's no worse than a lot of other yachts with their canvas enclosures. This is the vessel with the diesel from a front wheel drive car complete with gearbox. The mast and rigging put me off.

Sorry to hear the VdS went pear shaped. Do tell what happened. At least you can still have the fun of looking. Next time if there is a boat in Sydney or Melbourne you fancy, get one of us to have a look for you first.

These days I put myself to sleep imagining the yacht design which fits all my requirements. Don't think it exists, but one can literally dream.

They are a great boat, well designed and well built. Integral lead keel and they sail really well.

I built one when I was subcontracting to Kanga at Jarkan.
