Its a bit cheaper shipping to Hawaii if I can get it all in one box though. Honestly, I might be an atypical user, but I ride the old XXL 3-4 times a week on really small waves and I generally am not looking for more speed or lift, but a stiffer mast would help me feel in control on the turns. I'll probably get the new XXL at some point. I'm hoping they'll package the mast, wing and smaller surf tail into a complete foil because at this point I'm looking ordering so many spare parts I might as well just get everything and have a full back up foil.

I've my first go with Zuma 6'6" and Allvator 65cm high mast and L wing. The wave was 9" period with 1 or 2 foot high which is a minimum to none to prone but perfect condition for the first go on a foil.
As I don't fix up the straps provided, on the first go I took my stance that I'm used having with my 6'5' 'SUP then I fall over the Zuma and just feel the carbon edge of the wing along my leg falling aside of the board not far off enough! Cool awareness to keep off of those fancy sharpy hard horns...
At the second paddle, I keep my feet right along the stringer torquing my body emphasizing my weight on the front foot and I nearly lift going like a longboard nose riding.
At the third go, I was flying. After a long momentum of "levitation" but in fact are a few seconds, I went to much on my front foot and touch down. Eject.
As I forget the leash and I've seen how far in the sea can go my flying ship, I went in.
Next time I will do better. Sup was a renewal for me but foil is the youth of this renewal.

Yeah, I get that its going to be harder, but just how much harder is tricky to figure out. You can buy more performance, but you can't buy the skill to use it

I would say it depends on your time on the water. If you foil a lot, you should be able to manage the Pro after some sessions on it. If you are a casual foiler, it is wiser I guess to wait till you feel ready, that is you feel limited by your current foil max speed.

i said it somewhere, not sure if it was this thread or not, but.....

Get tube of silicone sealant, stick it in the hole, and fill it. I've done it with hollow masts, and it works. And I mean fill just the end 1/2" or so at both ends.

It also works as a cheap, effective replacement for Tefgel and the like if you put some into the threaded holes used in the foil assembly.

Thanks man! Yes the layups are ridiculous, the Chinese wing pictured above gave up a plug of solid carbon material about 1 1/2" thick when I bored it out. It's not offensively heavy overall but it will win an argument with a rock at high speed.

Yes the front of the Frankenwing is just a plug of Qcell/resin. I could make it a lot nicer by building a CF sleeve but I really like quick, cheap McGuyver fixes and that fits the bill, haha. The hole on that wing was fairly large....maybe the same as the OG Takuma setups? So it has a healthy sleeve. The Gong conversion would need way less.

Ive got a GL 210 on the way, but didn't want to buy the stab so I just made on of them and I'm super excited to test it out in a couple of days time. Overall I feel like I've gotten the setup performing much more to my taste just by cutting bits off, so I'll probably cut up the new one too after a little while!!

Carbon, but especially the huge pressure under which the resin is cured. I know Gong is always trying to get the highest pressures possible for the molded carbon pieces.

Thats a mistake in my opinion , you have a very high aspect front wing with a high drag rear wing creating excess lift & It will slow you down and choke the flow of the pump and turning. Have a look at Signature & Uni foils this is where the GL initial design was influenced by.

I have been experimenting with so many different rear wings lately and they make a HUGE difference. It's more often the rear wing causes the breach and over foil and not running the front wing on the surface. There is a very good reason the new GL rear wing is so radically different to the old Go Foil rears. It's like running radial tyres on a Ferrari leaving the old rear wing on.

Nice job , check out the Signature Sprint 18" pretty similar and will suit well. Keep it flat on top and slightly aero underneath if you can and can go either side of fuselage .

I had a look at this a couple of days ago...to fit a Gong wing onto my Gofoil.

Doable, both spigots same length.
Gong wing's entrance is slightly too narrow so you'd have to file/machine/rout it out and reinforce the outside mildly.

Putting a Gofoil wing on a Gong is super easy. Iv e done it with a Chinese wing.....Just Grease up the GF spigot, seal the screw have hole, mount the wing at the desired angle (with the help of some matchsticks) and pour in some epoxy/milled glass or qcell. Drill the appropriate holes for the mount and you're good to go.

the conversation pictured was a little harder because the spigot of the GF was too long, so I had to remove a section of the wing to accommodate it.

Wing is awesome and you can never have too many!!

Thanks for all the great info Clamsmasha. Some great work there. I always wondered how a Gong and GoFoil spigot compared in size. Don't think I could find it in me to buy a GL wing and fill it with resin to fit on a Gong fuse
