The Swanson 27 is certainly a good boat. The one in the link above is supposedly 1981 build - this seems a bit late but may be valid. The photo on the slips doesn't seem to include a rudder but I might be missing something.........there is no cockpit photo showing the rudder stock and tiller either. Would trust it is included in the sale and the seller has overlooked commenting on the slip photos to clarify this.

They did well in JOG racing back in the day when they first came out and I thought there was a post on here regarding the exploits of one but can't find it now. Thought I also read somewhere that one of them sailed in the 1/2 ton cup one year but can't find that now either so might be dreaming.

Apparently the mold went to Melbourne after the initial build batch and the bubble cabin was changed to a "cruising" cabin which is presumably longer but I can't find a photo of one.

Must say it is amazing the number of people in posts here who have looked at Tophats and tried to find a better yacht for their needs - as in value and suitability, obviously numerous other issues, who come back to the TH and buy one. I might buy one down the track to see me out as yacht refurb number 14 and the last.................getting closer to 70 than 65 now and cripes that sounds old..................where has all the time gone.........

SS34 for 20 grand in an estate sale. Get in quick!

Now that overseas travel is back we may see a lot of good buys! The market for small yachts will stall.

Might need to give it 18 months until all the people that have bought them and aren't dedicated sailors have realised that the maintenance headaches outweigh the enjoyment or scared themselves (or the wife) in more than 20 knots of breeze plus it becomes easier to travel without expensive covid tests at each junction...

The owner of the mentioned TH is a chap called Matt, who I believe wants to buy Blue Moon, which is a TH with a modified junk rig.
Now the thing is I'd also like Blue Moon, but Matt got in first.
Graham the owner of Blue Moon want to buy another boat. I'm guessing here, But I think Graham has to sell Blue Moon before he buys his next boat and Matt has to sell his TH before he buys Blue Moon. So there is a bit of a chain happening and will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Posting this 27 foot Daydream again. These are seaworthy boats that have made ocean crossings. This one is a fibreglass version. Most are plywood. Comes with a mooring. All for $10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of them in Australia, some were built here as well. They are one of the fastest full keel yachts about. They are also one of the yacht types that can be used as entrants in the Golden globe around the world race. One of our forum members owns one up in Townsville and I was fortunate to inspect it when it was for sale in Sydney some time ago.
This particular one is unusual having a laid deck like that and it is one area that needs careful inspection though from the photos it looks excellent. The rest of the exterior would clean up easily with Metal Gleam and a half hour of scrubbing. It has the same layout on the foredeck for the anchor well as the Mk1's and looking at the quality of the fittings I would say this is one of the nicer ones at one stage. I would say the sails are likely to be stained. The motor been under freshwater might be a problem and the interior is going to have some crook timber but it is still a really nice boat under the grime.

This Peterson 38 looks pretty good to me. Sailboatdata says only 8 built, thinking that they were only counting those built in USA. I like a nice cold moulded hull.

That's a lot of money for a 28 footer that has obviously been a club racer. For the average user it's going to need a furling headsail plus the mainsail converted to slugs and an easy to use stackpack and lazy jacks.
