DrogueOne said..I was on my way to have a look at that boat last July when I got locked out of NSW due to Vic lockdown 2. Then it had been on the market since April and the asking price was 14.5k. Different dink and motor now but not much else has changed. At the time my concerns were the diesel being a bit of an oddball and the life left in the new sails that had done 12000nm. The liferaft was also due for a repack and the wind vane was missing the paddle which is pretty much unobtanium unless you could get a hold of one to copy. Might still be worth a look but not for that price.
I had a look when it was for sale last year. It had actually been on sale since January. I was going to put an offer in but at the time the engine was not running, no big problem (AFAIK) but the owner had taken the wiring apart and couldn't figure out how to put it back together. The other thing is to look very carefully for any oil leak. I think the engine mounting stud had been drilled out and through to the crankcase, by the previous, previous owner and then put back in with red locktite, it never sealed properly and could not be removed to fix it properly. It might have been fixed by now.
I later rang up the owner to see if he had got the engine running and make an offer but he had sold it that morning for the asking price.
Pretty much as Drouge said, and also to note it doesn't have any fresh water tank. Condition of hull is excellent in my view and you would be hard pressed to find any corrosion. It's not painted inside or out.
It's listed as a Vlot 18, That's a typo, it is a Flot 18 Mk IV
You can see the (3? times) previous Canadian owner post at
www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f137/27-aluminum-sailboat-74755.htmlI don't think it has done a circumnavigation as claimed, but still impressive to have done atlantic and pacific.
The asking price is a little crazy and well above the $14.5 paid, some time or another you are going to want to repower it.
