Oh man, just watching that bloke do the summersault was painful enough for me to watch. I can not imagine how painful it was in person.

A few weeks back I was chatting to a bloke in the line up who was stepping down from a mid length to the Addvance, I think it was a 6'4" by memory, he said he could have easily gone shorter because they have heaps of volume.

I have a 6'0 board very similar to the greedy beaver. Its good for small & fat waves. Easy to travel with too

I have a 6'8 Greedy Beaver. It is my trial step down off a longboard for those days I want to try something different. Ability aside, it seems to be a nice board.

Thanks Steve and Warnesy.

They are nice looking outlines. I particularly like the look of the sea axe and Greedy beaver.. Just way to much volume for me in lengths that i like to ride. The 7ft addvance is more volume then my 9ftr. .. None of them ever come up as suggestion when i use the volume calculator..

They need to make 2 versions of them in my opinon..

I like the seaxe...never ridden one but they feel and look nice in the shop

Just my two cents but volume is ****ed way to measure a board

Yeah i agree, nothing like putting it under your arm to see how it feels and volume has become a bit of a marketing and sales tool for Big Labels selling Models through shops when half the time the buyer hasn't seen the board.

But to me the volume is just a bit like any other board measurement , not going to tell you everything but can be useful. Bit like saying a fin is 9 inch. Doesn't tell half the story but with the other info it can be useful..

Call it volume or whatever those boards are way to big in my opinion for me as a lightweight. To wide to thick more suited to someone 90kg then 70kg.

Just had my Christmas present delivered. Some don't like volume but I love it. Lol. At only 80kg but a blink of an eye away from 50yo I find volume is my friend. Have ridden other high volume boards and they feel corky. I love the way he shapes them for me.

Don't think I have ever posted a boogie clip but this one is insane - must have been a hell of a beating

Swellnet then contacted Damien to get his rundown of the session and how he lost the board.

"I towed Gringo for the first hour or so, he pulled back on a few nugs and I was blowing up and he eventually got a bomb. Wave of the day! When it was my turn to grab the rope I had a brand new board so I wasn't overly confident because it was a little lumpy. The first wave I bounced off my board and body surfed a 15 foot wave.The very next wave was that straight hander from the video! It looked west when it came in so I was fully committed, got to the bottom and had a 15 foot pit coming at me. I thought I had the speed to straighten out and get in the flats...but it ended up breaking clean on my back. I got pushed so deep and so quick my eyes went black and my face felt like it was going to pop.I pulled my suit but it didn't go off! I fully thought I was going to drown. Lost my board and fins straight away. Later I went looking for the board but had no luck. It's the second board I've lost out there. I watched Lewy [Finnegan] get two amazing nugs straight up, so I tried to get one more. I used Gringos board and got a 15 foot close out and a two wave hold down for it!We bailed after that. There was no-one out and it was 15 to 20 foot and pumping. Didn't have it in me to catch another wave..."

I love Geoffs boards. Have always got one ready to go. At the moment a 6'9" Nugget, a great fun board, but when it gets sucky and more edgy, it flies. Have had the best barrels of my life on that board. Who would think that the fat tail would hold in, but it does. Love the look of your new beast. Have fun.

Just reading about the McCoy boards, I think his theory is that you can have as bigger tail as you want you just need the fins in the right spots. When you look at the Nuggets you notice the fins are right out there and angled out as well - plenty of bite!

Thanks, I like his gull wing fins. Haven't tried anything else in his boards as yet, still playing around with the position, although the star fin is calling out to me to give it a crack. It is good to have your shaper that knows and surfs the same breaks as you do. I have found him great to deal with and cannot fault the boards he has shaped for me.
