The leash would have to be Monster, weight of board . . . separation. Add to this it is never just 11 ft. Usually +/- 50%. So you get 6 to 16 ft. . . . .
You'd be surprised how tough those Lift efoils are. I have seen my mate get absolutely destroyed in some decent surf multiple times plus it was shallow and just gets up and rides away (that's him in the pic on a Lift efoil) With Lifts new folding prop and High aspect wings they have amazing free glide but it's not easy to get used , very different to what you are used to free foiling on a 60+ pound board. We are also starting to tow in from the efoil . He uses a front foot strap only . I never strap .

Piros is a good man :), he took this photo of me at Surfers.. Theres quite a few vidos of foiling eFoiling and Kitefoiling waves on my youtube - VVKitography (Sirv11) - but heres a few ..
with Piros, Marty and John
with my mate Payam, drone pilot extraordinaire
and a few saucy crashes for you -
eFoils are not flat water machines only, never for me. I don't have a surfer's background as I grew up in central Africa LOL. But I've been riding Kitefoils on the Gold Coast since Oct 2013 and I bought the first eFoil ever and received it in April 2018, 2 days before Kay and Laird got theirs LOL, I love rubbing that one in :).. it the efoil on the photo above, 30 months old and never missed a beat or had issues, talk about RELIABLE !!!
I run
eFoilgc.com and teach hydrofoiling on eFoils. It's the fastest and safest way to learn to foil - go onto the video galleries and have a look. Shoot me a line, I'm happy to clear some myths..
