wwdesign.eu/html/h28.htmlsilentboats.eu/huzars/Really struggling to see enough market for this configuration 28 footer at $90K.............as in one of the above links the basic version at maybe 1/2 that price could do better..........but even then JPK are offering a lot better value hopefully they will do well locally built.......I have nothing to do with JPK but if were them would strongly look at including a bare basic 9-9.5m racer cruiser in the Aust build program.
www.mysailing.com.au/boats/jpk-yachts-now-proudly-made-in-australia Honestly, that's about right these days. Whether anyone buys it is another thing.
If I could convince the wife to let me buy a new boat (though I'm happy with my current one), it'd be around the 28 ft mark - I find that a really comfortable size for single handing when needed, while being big enough to have plenty of room for crew when racing. If anything, I'd want something that was 7.99 metres, just to bring down costs (like moorings etc more).
So, what's around? Probably the other best two choices in Australia are either a Beneteau First 27 at $159,650, or, much cheaper, a FarEast 28r at $69,950 (which is basically bare inside).
For reference too, I really like Adams 8s. They tend to sell for about $10-15. When they were first sold in 1979, the sailaway price was $16....or about $76,000 today.
