Tina seems to be becoming sadly neglected. Her splines or caulking is showing and I think the varnish is on its way out. Strange considering how much money seems to have gone into her. She could be a wonderful buy, however.

All around the world (Italy, Spain, Germany, UK, the US.) there are preservation societies or woodworking schools that take on projects and apprentices.
I visited the Marine Museum in Barcelona and there were 3 or 4 projects underway in the workshop.
These recent wooden boat seen here would be perfect candidates, not too big, historic, attractive, etc.
What is happening in this area in Australia.?
Are we actually doing anything?

Volunteer groups?

Wow that is a huge drop, I am not a fan of that small main , I wonder how much better she would go with full length boom and main ?

Tina was built to the One ton rule. At the time the rule encouraged headsail driven yachts. This is an early one tonner and the mainsail is quite moderate. Later they got to be more extreme. I certainly would not change her sail plan.

Both the wooden boat centre www.woodenboatcentre.com and the living boat trust lbt.rforster.org at Franklin here in Tassie are doing courses and new build & restoration work on wooden boats

Suggest the boatersresources advert be shelved and Tina be viewed on its merits as it is - being a classic timber yacht of good pedigree, requiring a suitable refurbishment by an enthusiast including local recaulking as needed.......................

That is a good buy, especially if the outboard and mooring go with it.

It's not a Spencer though, these are part of the Swarbrick stable. Very popular in WA.

Not trying to micromanage or control freak anything but just wondered about putting on line that a yacht for sale has had "a lightning strike so may need a re-rig".............I am fully aware that numerous yachts since the start of time have been sold with "issues" which the buyer wasn't aware of, and the seller should have advised them of..............but didn't...........nevertheless is it cricket to go on line and trumpet such an occurrence? I suggest not but am not posting this in order to try and get a plurality of legal responses from anyone..............just wanting to make the point to the so many enthusiastic and knowledgeable persons on this forum that posting this type of comment imho is not kosher in any way shape or form. Perhaps the forum moderator can comment.

Specific inquiries...........for sure if you have factual knowledge of a particular class of yacht, and their strengths and weaknesses, please by all means respond to a specific inquiry - hundreds of inquiries have come in to the forum from prospective buyers in this manner, and the feed back responses obviously have been excellent and usefully guided the potential buyer.

I have nothing to do with the yacht in question, and have no knowledge of it or interest in it.

Probably good to start a cheap boats Ive seen for sale thread...defining cheap is going to be the hard part....
