That depends on the individual, surely. I'm not in the market for a Dunc 37 but I find Emma to be much more attractive than the usual D37 and many of us prefer an aft cockpit boat with the flush foredeck to a centre cockpit one with a long cabin trunk and narrower sidedecks.
After rebuilding from keel to mast tip a dunc 37 and living and cruising for 7 years I would have to disagree that the non raised decks are more attractive and practical. The raised deck version was designed for cruising in mind and many circumnavigated. There are only a few dunc 37 around that took the 35 deck and cabin arangment and I think that was prior to the raised deck so most of them are pre 80s

I didn't say the Emma type deck was more attractive - I said that I find it more attractive. That's a personal aesthetic judgement and if you prefer the look of the standard deck that's great - to my eye I prefer the other one.
Similarly, I tend to prefer a different style of deck layout as a practical matter for my type of sailing and style of sailing. I specifically said that it was a personal choice. That doesn't mean that any other deck is inferior, it's just what I like. As you said, the raised deck version was for cruising (although I thought it was the first version???) and I'm not a specialist cruiser so I don't want a specialist cruising boat. If you do, that's great, but it's just down to personal choice and desires.
It's the same as the fact that some people like a station wagon and some prefer a sportscar, some like white wine and some like beer, and some like a trendy inner-city flat and some like a house in the suburbs - different strokes for different folks. Your boat looks very nice but it wouldn't be my personal choice just as you wouldn't choose mine.
