Very different boats built for different things.

Yes, but the principle is the same. Not a very elegant design, which looks like a patch-up job.

I did a few offshore races when Eddis Boyes owned her in Hobart, loved running downwind in hard conditions.
there was a police siren onboard, but it was only allowed to be used if she crossed the line 1st

Yara is talking about the stuff below decks and it is the same as my boat just mine is a bit tidier. Sent on all the Police Car stuff to my mate who owns the alloy Cole 42 built in the same era. He is very impressed and tomorrow he is driving home from Queensland and is tempted to stop off and have a look. Does not want to because he does not want the temptation!

Guys you need to get out more
the rule said you needed a fitted head
the rule did not say connected
so quite common for head not to have thru hulls back in the day

so quite common for head not to have thru hulls back in the day

OMG I never knew that! if only.
Thats why it's on the foredeck. Hang your bum over edge after use in a seaway and presto bidet.

Police Car with a modified rig would be the perfect yacht for the doublehanded series just announced including a division in the Sydney Hobart Race. Some one will step up and save her.

The Aries No 5 would possibly be a fair choice of windvane for a sugar scoop. The original ones have 4 struts that connect to a transom with a ball and socket arrangement.
The wind vane can be removed in less than a few minutes with no tools or just the working mechanism can be removed leaving the struts and mount platform,, again with no tools and less than a minute.

Millenium Falcon 1992 $59K. Basically equipped, but it has a dodger

Millenium Falcon Is on top of my saved list! First thing I would do is toss the dodger!

Police Car is down to $7500. Lets hope someone buys it before I get home or realizes it's worth more as scrap!

Rafantell has 9 huge selftailing winches @ conservatively $1500 each = 13.5 k in that alone , Salina also well set up equipment wise a good # of ST winches also a wind vane ! so its looking very much like Millenium Falcon is not 20 k cheaper at all
so in my view its in order of best value. 1 salina 2 Rafantell 3 Millenium Falcon.

Salina has got my vote. $30k more than Millenium Falcon but does not need $30k spent on her.

I'd go for the Falcon. I don't need all the winches on the other boats, or a wind vane. I find MF's interior suits my taste since I like simple designs executed in wood, although the others are nice apart from the use of Frontrunner. The engine on MF seems further aft and the Vee berth is lower, which seem to make the saloon and forecabin more practical. But it would all depend on inspection.

The money saved on MF would buy plenty of good second hand gear to meet my own tastes.

I feel a little guilty about that! I put a photo on the Facebook page I run for Greenwell Point yachts group. I came across her a little nose down when I was out searching for a wayward Tophat. I don't know the owner but I was trying to bring it to his attention. $1500 with a really good mooring!

She's not spectacular in terms of finish, but she's a solid old girl and was a fixture in the Sydney offshore racing scene for a while. Sail inventory is pretty scanty and the rigging age is unknown, but a good buy for someone.

A Mate just purchased a dunc 37 1989 model for 20k cutter rigged and crispy sails.
Your bargain of the month 37 has the 35 deck so loss of headroom compared to the original 37 raised deck. I wouldn't call it a bargain SandsS

That depends on the individual, surely. I'm not in the market for a Dunc 37 but I find Emma to be much more attractive than the usual D37 and many of us prefer an aft cockpit boat with the flush foredeck to a centre cockpit one with a long cabin trunk and narrower sidedecks.

That green point boat is a bargain if most of those parts and sails can be salvaged. And if the engine is still good, 500 is a bargain. I guess $2000 for a boat with a mooring is pretty good. Only issue is getting someone to scrap the hull if you don't want to fix it.

And I too am not a fan of the flush decks on the 34,35and 37 duncansons. Being a tall bloke, I need a boat with at least 6'2 headroom, so my boat list is quite small :( or expensive $$$

It's sold! Nothing wrong with the hull, it looks as good as any other steel hull and is better than several other steel boats here. It did sink last year and I have no idea why. Mooring is worth $1500!

After rebuilding from keel to mast tip a dunc 37 and living and cruising for 7 years I would have to disagree that the non raised decks are more attractive and practical. The raised deck version was designed for cruising in mind and many circumnavigated. There are only a few dunc 37 around that took the 35 deck and cabin arangment and I think that was prior to the raised deck so most of them are pre 80s
