After a bit more sanding and filling any low points I intend to give it a coat of spray paint. Any ideas guys as to what paint will stick to aluminium and polyester resin please.

Acrylic will stick to most surfaces, but will wear off eventually. I used a grey etch primer just to tidy mine up.
Two pack will wear off as well, but slower and is fairly expensive.
Clear would look good!

Thanks Pepe, wasn't sure if acrylic paint would stick to the Ali or if etch primer would affect the resin.

There are different etch primers for different types of paint as well, so need to check it is compatible to the paint you use.
We sell this one to the Aluminium fabricators www.lincolnsentry.com.au/products/3700301 who use it in conjunction with
www.lincolnsentry.com.au/products/3700738 there is lots of different colours. I have used both these products to repair nose damaged board.

It now weighs 1.35kg so is about 900g lighter. My hollow 24 weighs in at 1.2kg so not bad considering the base of the fin is still the original length of the 28. Time to take the Mrs out for the weekend again Ross.

The woody 26 had its maiden voyage today and behaved impeccably. I wanted a 26 because for me on my 115 slalom 70 wide and the 7.9 the 28 was too big though it goes upwind like an americas cup boat and the 24 too small in marginal winds on this combo but fantastic with the 7.0. Its biggest asset to me is its upwind ability without compromising speed. You may think that 2cm wouldn't make that much difference but its more the surface area of the fin and the foil thickness which I think I have got pretty bang on between them.
Well worth the effort and Ross has a few solid ones left he can modify for you, in fact he is looking forward to it.

Went to visit Fangy last week and upon my arrival he announced as ruler of fangyland he was promoting me from crash test dummy to research and development manager. ( roughly translated this means he is too lazy and his grinding is crap ) My brief was to make another woody, this time from a 24 solid to a 22 with a narrower foil. This time I have drilled the corners with a 25mm,hole saw to minimise any stress points but cut it out much closer to the leading edge. I just hope I haven't been a bit greedy and the thing bends. The previous 22 that I made from a hollow 24 weighs in at 1150g I think this one will end up about 800g and about 4-5mm thinner than it started off,at. Will be interesting to see how it compare's,to the other 22 in both lift and speed.

More kudos for the 28 fangy, sailed resterday in light changeable conditions from shallow smooth to choppy rough swells and the fin behaved beautifully. Small patches of weed and grass .Light winds,big board and 7.8 racing blade underpowered. Managed to plough some furrows and had big hit on a sandbank, no marking on the fin at all! Didn't even look like cvitating or spinning out.

I now have two 22 woodys to chose from. I decided to woody the first 22 that I made from a hollow 24. In full ally weighed in at 1150g and now weighs 735g. Remembering it still has the base length of a 24 and the foil thickness at the base. This fin performed great with heaps of lift and no spin out at all but maybe lacked in speed a little. As the other 22 has less surface area and is about 5 mm thinner I am hoping it will prove to be faster. It will also be interesting to compare them to a factory 22 which will have a shorter base and a thinner foil from the start.
Fangman has definitely met the brief he set himself and in my opinion they definitely outperform any other delta fin on the market apart from in the top speed department though with 39kn 2s and a 37nm they are not slow. Hopefully with a little bit of tweaking that is easy for most to do we can do this without destroying the characteristics that make them such great fins.
As soon as conditions allow the full weight of the fangy fin crash test dummy team will be giving them a good work out.

I am really keen to try out my most recent FF18 mods. But it will need to be ballsitic for me to do that, so I will probably get Crash Test Decrepit to try it and I will take what's left...(I still have my Foil on a Strut version of the 24 to try out too.)
