Not proclaiming to be an expert but I think it all depends on previous skill and weight. I wouldn't say 149L is a low volume board unless you're a complete beginner or you're a very large individual. That seems a pretty typical volume for people getting back into it who had previous experience. I'm 82kgs and got back into windsurfing 2 years ago (after 20+ years) on a Starboard Carve 124L. My friend is just getting back into it now, same weight, on a 135L Fanatic Gecko. To give you an idea of our previous skills neither of us had experience with using harness or being in foot straps. I think all three of these boards (Magic Ride, Carve, Gecko) are also more stable than their volume suggests through the fact that they're quite wide.

I think that looks a nice setup and just in that sweet spot of where the gear isn't discouragingly difficult but also advanced enough to provide early thrills and keep you hooked and wanting more.

Thanks guys. I'm around 95kg, my previous board was a Mistral Maui, 12' and 200+ litres, so I'm definitely noticing the smaller size, but it's getting better each time out. I'm fighting more with the wind than anything lol ( gusty and shifting directions) sailing an inland lake, but still enjoying the challenge and being back out there

Ahhh nice, when I started back (was only a beginner before, never good) I had a 200l windsup then a 145. Was out on the water so much I went from 95kg to 82-88kg or so depending on how much I eat .

I'm a happy chap . Had an hour or so in a solid 15kts . 8.7 m .That's about max sail .Dialling it in with a shallow fin moving the mast back . Then went to a 50cm pointer and was so much better and moved the mast forward . Could go a 9.5m with a big fin . Back straps could go out a bit. Then the wind stopped . There's only so much fiddling I can do in that time . A easy smooth ride in the chop . A perfect mid wind board for fatso me . I think I have enough boards now .

10 mm V at front with 6 mm double concaves blending to a 4 mm flat V at back . 1100 mm flat rocker with 1 mm kick at back . ( that's what gets a fat bastard planing early ).

A bit more pedestrian I guess, but my brand new spiral wetsuit arrived a couple of days ago.

I got to try it yesterday, and that limestone rubber is super comfy and warm.
Wasn't Arctic conditions, about 15c, but the estuary water was mainly rain off the hills and very cold. Standing around in it was fine, unlike my old warn out suit with torn ankles.

Sailworks guys claim they adjust while foiling, I have not tried that but I can adjust while on the water slogging, when unhooked can adjust and set line with one hand (including thumb to push line upward into V-cleat), or when hooked-in can also adjust line using one hand. I flipped the V-jam cleat over (V-jam facing me), from the stock orientation (V-jam facing sail)
