I work, so I have to be out of the water by 8-8:30 (which already makes me very late so I have to make it up later). Doesn't give me much time to find an alternative spot. If it's going to be all day offshore I can go to work at 6am and leave early and that's a bit more flexible but at this time of year there's not much within an hour of the city anyway.

Yeah I was at 3rds. Only a handful of people in comparison to yesterday but still straighthanders.

Apart from the point, I saw some really good waves and a good righthand bank when I was walking back up the beach ... right in the middle of the flags, as usual.

I need a fast boat, then could do Rotto before or after work.

I was at work on Thursday and missed the swell
The Mrs is wearing an out fit like Sandy in the last scene of grease was wearing, it is the biggest swell I have had since last Friday. But like last Friday she looks smoking
State Jnrs tomorrow, 27-02-10, at trigg 7am will have beach pegged out for that so don't look for space there.

You didn't miss much. Outside the metro area looked alright from the few images I've seen.

What always amazes me is that a 0.7m swell in summer is nowhere near as good as a 0.7m swell in winter. I know the banks are different, but I guess there's deeper water then a sudden bank in winter, vs. a longer shallower bank in summer == more dissipation of swell. Dunno. Seems like it makes a 1-2' difference.

Its the weaker peak period, usually summer is around 10-12 winter is 13-16.

Ohhhh! seabreeze graphs are looking nice for the weekend... too bad its when everyone else has days off too.

I've heard that when the swell is pumping Watermans is a good break (thanks to the construction guys on the shore its usually deserted in the lineup).

Some mongoloid on the beach came up to me and warned me he'd confiscate my board and fine me $250 for surfing there though.

I think the threat of fine was due to the works restoring the beach - there are 'beach closed' signs on the main paths down to the beach...

I too used to surf this spot (first reef) heaps when I was (much) younger, and remember a couple of classic winter sessions, but from what I have seen, it has not fired properly for the last 15+ years...

Since they built Hillarys Marina & put the groynes in south of there it has stopped all the sand flow down into the area.

Yeah I think it was the site's foreman.
Some gimp in long pants and sandals with socks on...

I didn't see any beach closed signs I saw the word "Extreme Fun Area" although my friends said it was "Beach Closed Dangerous"

Never mind the swell, the bloody southerly is all over it again - and Trigg is effectively closed due to the Junior Surf Life Saving Carnival having all of 'second/third carpark' - took me 10 laps to park the car...only to find it wasn't worth the effort of going out...

NOTE that JSLSC is on again at Trigg tomorrow - Sunday 7th.

Yeah, I had a look on the web cam. Miniscule swell and all those tents prevented me from having a look in person. Looked like Pt Packed had one or two and surprisingly not too bad crowds (maybe just couldn't see them on the web cam). I should've had a look but ah well, another week without a surf.

Had the same thing last week at Secret Harbour. First bit of swell in weeks and the whole beach was flagged off and closed for the weekend for the SL state champs.

Its great to see so many kids get off the couches and out in the fresh air, but with so many livesavers down at Secrets, who was pulling the asians out of the surf at Scarbs and Cottesloe?
