I think you have missed the point smicko
Surf atlas's, maps, Internet sites have been whoring our surf breaks for many years
Everyone knows all the spots, everyone knows how to get there and most people have
already been there
Some people for 15 years some people for 15 minutes
What people don't know is all the day to day ins and outs of the spots The information that the Internet doesn't spoon feed people. The information people couldn't possibly know unless they go there everyday
What the crowds are doing, the banks, the consistency, morning sickness etc etc
That's why IMO people should keep there mouths shut a little bit more
Some people just can't wait to post their claims on Facebook and talk it up
And guess what, Suddenly more people
Remember what happened with Nias a few years back
Well I was spending loads of time there and it was relatively uncrowded
Then the unfortunate events of the earthquakes and the ground and reefs lifting everywhere
Fortunately for surfers the wave wasn't destroyed but actually got better
Before these events occurred Everyone knew about it, everyone knew how to get there and a lot of people had been there but it was a long way to go and it needed a big swell for it to be epic. I didnt mind travelling a little further Somedays I would be surfing by myself for hours. Not anymore
Enter the bush telegraph
After the wave got better most surfers couldnt wait to claim that they scored. Kelly Slater even talked it up in the young guns vid
And I bet you can't guess what happened
Ultra packed
The season following at Lagundri was hideous
An embarrassment to surfing
IMO the grapevine is ten times worse than guidebooks etc etc
That's my opinion and it isn't changing
