Out of interest wouldn't a change just be changing whose pockets are being lined? So whose pockets are you suggesting are being lined at the moment and whose will be if we enact greenhouse gas reductions via say government taxes and a state owned nuclear industry?
Assumptions for the above:
You can't avoid: death, taxes or someone lining their pockets...
You can avoid: sea level rises wiping out much of the interesting places that humans and animals live in.
