Her tone and delivery are calm, sharp and intelligent.
Please take the time to actually listen to what she has to say.

The boat is already made so her contribution to that is nil. She is only using the wind to get there. Its little but she at least is trying to find alternative ways. The jets will still be flying with seats to spare without her. If we all try a little bit then perhaps we can do something positive for this world.

Biggest problem is people to step from the known into the unknown. From comfortability to fear of living without.

My son and I just did some research on Black Anderson and the time differences to being in Esperance. Only 200 yrs ago it would take days to sail to the shops or mths to walk. Albany was the only town in 500kms. Now we can travel from Cape Arid to town in 2hrs. How do you give that up or take that privilege away?

The other week I decided to take a leaf out of Greta's book and catch a train to Proserpine for a work trip instead of flying south from Bundy to Brisbane and back up north and return. What a mistake, that's how all the poor people travel, especially the ones in small rural towns with no medical services. That train was noisy, smelly, I had people coughing all over me and trying to start conversations, plus I had to pay for the wine. Next time I'm going to fly with the nice people, smash down free wine in the Qantas club and continue to be ignored by the business people in suits.

We need to keep up the noise about climate change and other social issues because as this informative article explains no one in power is.

I reckon Greta's looking at the wrong end of the demographic.
Its easy to criticise what has happened in the past but it's going to be a losing battle to get us old fogies to change . Train the young , you know like a puppy. Get the kids to leave the class room and strike against mum driving them to school or taking them to sports ,you know stop burning fossil fuel. Rise up against the use of electricity by not recharging the iphones or watching tv until all coal fired is closed down.
Hang on, perhaps she's already doing that .
She should also be concentrating on all those people flying around on jet skis burning up fossil fuel on pristine waterways clogging ramps with huge gas guzzlers , chucking plastics into the water because there's no where to put it on one . What about all the motor cruisers on the water today ,restrict the size or get rid of them . Hell I've done my bit . I sold my motorbike, stopped racing cars and bought a sail boat . How much further does she want me to go ? Not use the air conditioner? Only wear natural fibres?

At the first dealership i worked at the owner had his XJS V12 injected parked on the showroom floor to try and sell it

Each morning my job was to wipe up the oil from underneath it that had leaked out the day before from multiple spots around the car

I think the English who built it called it allowable seepage

Ha that would be right used to drive me mad .first xj V12 kept on blowing the gearbox seals ( Borg Warner ) and spilling oil all over the garage. Rocker cover seal as well. The dealer would say nothing they could do as motor too powerful for gearbox . Radiator header tank would blow regularly . You need two , one at mechanics ,one to drive. My XJS was a bit rough until I met up with a bloke who raced an etype 12 in the Tas. Targa etc. ( Bob Jones) He got his mechanic to tune and service it . No leaks and ran like silk

It was a day to remove all the stuff to get to it, 5 minutes to replace and a day to put it all back together again

Used to take an hour and half to change plugs by feel , couldn't see half of them but boy best engine ever just what hung off it was an issue.

Drive your ****ty old vintage cars and bikes and be happy doing it. No one cares, it means nothing and makes no difference.
The point Greta is making is that there needs to be large scale governmental change and global change.
I do find it funny however that Guys like Cisco and bananabender feel so threatened by a 16 year old girl.

Out of interest wouldn't a change just be changing whose pockets are being lined? So whose pockets are you suggesting are being lined at the moment and whose will be if we enact greenhouse gas reductions via say government taxes and a state owned nuclear industry?

Assumptions for the above:
You can't avoid: death, taxes or someone lining their pockets...
You can avoid: sea level rises wiping out much of the interesting places that humans and animals live in.
