You've got a big problem.-- a ton of wind foiling equipment that you're telling yourself you'll still use. Good chance that stuff doesn't get used much, especially with that 7 metre Echo calling your name every time the trees start to move. I'm in the same boat -- if there's wind I want to be on foil with a wing. I love wind foiling but it is just so much easier to pump up the wing and go -- and I suspect I love the wing more than the sail.

I'm hoping I'll still wind foil with a sail but the wing is what I seem to end up using.

Here's a little bit of a long one (again), but it's all one clip from a D-winger I did today after work (some like to see continual clips over just the highlights). Sailed upwind for a few km's then free-winged back.

Wind was NE-NNE. Felt about 10-12kn at first but was dropping quickly. Here is the reading of the hang gliders station on top of long reef headland which is generally a lot windier than what is actually on the water (when I am deciding wether or not to ride I usually halve it, some subtract 5kn which seems a little more likely today). I rode from 1700 - 1730.


I am riding the NAISH Hover 110, Wing-Surfer 5.3m and the JET 1800HA Foil. Today I rode strapless.

Obviously with the wind between 11-14 degrees, straight DW is 191-194. The swell was very east making it super hard to come off the wind deep. Also the GPS on my GoPro crashed for a bit at the start, but gets going a little into it. You can see angles and speeds once it does.

A bit of speed winging today in the westerly. My goal was to get over 45kmh, which I am stoked to have done on 2 runs. Now to start working on getting to 50kmh.



Best 20sec was 41.4kmh, Best 10sec was 43.5kmh, Best 5sec was 44.1kmh and Best 2sec was 44.9 kmh.

Riding the Naish Hover 110 and Naish Kite 810 foil with 280HA rear on the std fuselage (64cm) and 75cm mast (wish it was deeper on the lake so I could have gone 85cm), powered with the S25 Wing-Surfer 3.6m.

Weather has turned here. Very strong gusty NW winds giving Cross offshore. Glad I have the shallows to play in.
