Here is the track from 3/11/18. The watch said just over 20 knot alpha and after uploaded to KA it was knocked back...sorry it was reduced to 19.634. Not sure if it was the same alpha but I'm pretty sure it was the same turn.

Got it, and you're right it's the same gybe, but you went wide, so it's very short, only just got it into the watch's 300m.

so here's what it looks like with Real speed.



You can see the total distance is only 313.2m. because that's where trackpoints puts your 50m separation.
If you add another 3m and calculate for 53m
here's what you get.




So another 3m separation gives you an extra 43m total distance, lifting the average speed.
So I conclude from this that the watches doppler calculation of separation is an extra 3m here. So safest if you want to make sure of your alphas, aim for 47-48m not 50m

It's really not a problem, having your own software can tell you a lot about what is happening, this case demonstrates that rather well.

You can buy one, but you will have to accept that the strap will probably break after a year or so (planned obsolescence?) I got 1.5 years out of mine, I now have a split halfway across the strap. Serial number is 168600702 which appears to be earlier than most of the others that have failed. Looks like Locosys don't care their name is going to be tarnished by a quality control fault. If they won't stand behind their product then I for one won't buy another one. My solution for now is to 3d print a flexible safety backing strap (printed with TPU plastic) that should stop me losing the watch when the other half of the strap does break. If anyone wants to do the same let me know and I can give you a copy of the 3d printer stl file I used.

If someone could 3D print a cradle for a broken GW60 and have a two pin system that could use a Velcro band ... , I'd buy one.
