short update:

I was home last week and took the watch appart. It is no straighforward to refabricate the top frame as I was hopping to do.

So the alternative I was thinking was to keep it more or less as it is and make a U bracing to attach it to the mast (obviously the CF mast will disturb the antenna signal to some extent).

But then i am off home again and forgot to even took the serial number to share with you...

So will update in a few month, I am quite confident i can draw some sort of support which could then printed or made by hand.

Well the gps in the watch still works fine, just use a tie to fasten it on to your bouyancy vest and tie it down so it doesn't move around, for me it's still better than the heavier GT31 slipping around on your arm or flapping on your shoulder in a acquabag

Band is fine, use the watch every day (taking on and off daily). I reckon there must have been a faulty batch.

I bought a Paqua Key to see if my GW52 would fit and it doesn't, not even close. It will just fit my car key remote, but it would be touch and go as to whether it would fit the GW60 as I think it might be too wide.

If anyone would like to buy a new Paqua Key for $25 PM me!

I agree..Love the GT31 itself
Probably a woman problem..aquapacks aren't made for our little arms.. even with a knot tied in the armband mine sometimes starts to slip.. Not much fun powered up in chop where you can't really take a hand off to push it back up.. or when you fall in and have to swim for the board and it's threatening to fly off as you swim..

To get to serial number,
In watch mode, >adjust >start, should give you version number, then adjust again brings up
version number
user name
serial number
battery voltage

Dylan has a good project here,
From what I hear, locosys and the industry in general are treating broken straps much like broken watch faces, caused by accidents.
The only way to change this perception is to show breakages around a cluster of numbers, serial numbers from broken bands is the only way to do this. So if you have a broken band and want action, give Dylan your serial number/s

Excellent thought Swindy. The serial number will be the indicator. I've had mine for a year and no problems and have used it approx 50 times. My serial number is 168601290. This number is either located on the watch's packaging box or the watch's firmware menu item. It will be interesting to know the S/N's of failed watches. The nose picking work experience molder in the factory ?. Maybe his boogy has contaminated the mold resin ?

If anyone who has a broken GW60 watch band can PM me their serial number I'd appreciate it. I have the serial number of one watch that has a broken band (that I sold via ka72.com) and I wouldn't mind checking the proximity of the serial numbers of broken ones (for what it's worth.)

Anyone unaware of their rights should read the info in the below link to the ACCC. Under Australian law it is the SELLER'S responsibility to remedy any situation where the product is not fit for purpose and is still within its warranty period. All you need to do as a BUYER is let the SELLER know the intended use of the product at the time of purchase. It should be implied that if you are buying from a windsurfing shop that you are using it for windsurfing and your tracks will back this up.

I've got one of these watches and its going great so far, the charging thingo is a bit hit and miss, but the first person I contacted was the SELLER when I had the issue and Andy was straight onto it with some advice to remedy.

Just an update, based on the serial numbers I've received so far, there seems to me to be an emerging pattern of serial number clustering.

Still I would like to hear about any others that come along, but particularly where your serial number is between roughly 168601065 and 168601295 I'd like to hear from you whether your band is broken or not. Every report I have so far is within that range, and most are between 1070 and 1100.

To give some perspective, KA72 has a list of about 350 GW60 serial numbers that have come through the site, so even with the reports I have it is very unlikely that your band will break. However if it is outside the range mentioned above, I have no reports of any breaks, and that accounts for 90% of the watches that have been used with ka72.com

Below is a graphic. This is a list of serial numbers from oldest at the left to newest at the right. Red bars are the serial numbers I have right now that I know for certain are broken bands. Green bars are watches I have visually inspected recently that are fine. The thicker red bars are where two consecutive serial numbers have been reported as broken.
