Of late there has been quite a few additions to the GP3S scene over here. I'll add some additional info to the Gp3S topic regarding getting on board with your local gtc team.

Do we really have to burn a teak boom mate

I have some off cuts of English Oak and some Australian Jarrah we could use as an alternative

I'm sure we'll be able to find a teak boom somewhere (Sam or Chris249?) & have a celebratory BBQ down by Botany Bay or Long Reef to create our own ashes.

Then we'll create an Urn shaped trophy with a sail on top. magic

That'd be FNQ - Freezing North Queensland then Bob?

Looking at the GTC rankings FNQ have runs on the scoreboard ... Swags take note!

Is this celebrating your victory? And if not very nice off you to have a bbq to celebrate us kicking aussie arse.
Oh if we are fortunate to win are you going to send us the ashes until next year?
Not that we stand a chance coz we only have 2 and 1/2 active teams due to weather.

Not moaning.

There's a slim chance WK might fire next Tuesday 25kts from the West, coupled with a high tide breach of the wall of 9.1m, there would be an opportunity to score well in all divisions, although speed kit in 4 foot mush might well be amusingly painful

Hope the Pirates get out this arvo

Don't get too excited, FNQM are going to suffer a cold winters day tomorrow just to cement this month's Ashes, burn baby burn

Good job the PiT crew are n't batting til October

August already sees a great battle developing between FNQ and the PP's .... Looks like the UK are entering a "sticky wicket" phase, weather wise .. with the azores high ridging up to the UK this week ...

Mark (Mid-North Coast Marauders El Capitan) & I are working on a scoring system

...to be fair & equitable , of course, but different to GPS TC, & also a cumulative score - a bit more like cricket.

More later

PS. Keep those speeds (& sledges, Firie ) coming

Well if you try to get here in a leaky old boat, you'll probably be shot out of the water.
Arriving by plane shouldn't present any problems though.

Yeah mate .. John Dalton ... the last time we hit a solar minima as with the one we are now sliding into, the River Thames (London) froze.

Solar mins have their greatest impact over the winter months, usually exhibiting long cold protracted winters, heavy snows, prolonged sub zero temps.

Last winter over here in the UK was a taster, a precursor of what's to come.

Gone now are the milder winters of the 90's and 2000's with a predominant Sw flow and mild atlantic maritime winds with a regular run of winter storms.

What we have to look forward to is blocking highs and arctic / siberian wind flows.

OTOH, I've booked a long winter holiday at Whistler, so I'm laughing. I'll have great sailing before and after, and great ski-ing !!

Sounds like a perfect holiday Ken, hope you don't get snowbound

If the forecast does pan out as such, we'll be skiing and boarding at home in Snowdonia

snowdonia is such a beautiful place.

we've had a disasterous winter here wind wise. there has bee nmonths of no real action but it looks like things may be changing.

as soon as those solar storms flared up so did the wind for us.

strange but true

It is mate .. not all the time tho .. given a sw'ly flow ... drizzle and murk is the norm

Here's a rare clear day taken from the front garden

Snowdon is the furthest right of the 3 peaks to the centre right of the photo

Enso (El Nino southern oscillation) has been the reason for your wind drought... now .. La Nina now building .. bring on the wind ..

Not quite as good as having a view over you local speed spot like yours mate.

Nothing on the horizon mate WK might get a bit of a west to nw flow 15-20kts this arvo and tomorrow. As Rosie says "Poo Wind"

Check this out mate, my own personal mini Chesil with a "PiT like" speed curve, good for a wsw flow too.... 300m flat out speed curve with 100m of run in and run out ... nice ... pity I'm too knackerd to sail it solo.
