Advantage of the one year old used board is that you can rule out any manufacturing defects. $2k for a board without warranty sounds crazy.

Funny that when you add the 22% and $17 posatage, they were finally selling for $6 less than retail price....

FOMO! I have seen similar stuff happen at IT auctions. People buying parts for near retail.

Yeah its all **** or good, not really anything "just sooty and cheap but still good" IMHO.

I'm doing OK with getting the things I wanted. Most at about half retail. Gobsmacked at some of the prices though.

I rang about the lots that disappeared during the day and they reckon they will be listed in a later auction. I call BS on that one, why remove one fin today, just to list it later, when people are buying stuff??

Cant wait to read the brand bashing because of delam or other issues and the lemons offloaded on the buy/sell section...

I went there today and was told the items I bid on had all been removed from the auction because they couldn't be located. (wtf) to be auctioned tomorrow or at a later date. There were a few bargains but a lot of crap too. Why pay $500 for something that retails for $800 (masts) and take the chance it could be farked from the heat. Judging by the condition of some of the items, there was a LOT of heat...It ain't a bargain if you don't need it. ..I got nothing except I now know how these things work.

Wonder what happens if there is a fire in the Lloyds super centre, who gets to auction fire damaged pre- fire damaged goods, and what will the mark up be. I was tempted for five minutes but stayed clear in the end. Whatever happens, be very careful in the second hand market over the coming months of not years.

I'm guessing from many of the comments on here that not many people move in the circles of commercial auctions. LLoydes will not give a **** if its windsurfing gear or washing machines. These Auction houses work on the fast turnover principle get it in get it out make your fixed margin. Im not at all surprised items have gone walkabout. The staff will kick **** out of the way for the next pallet of stuff. Ive seen whole collections split (stamp albums) and therefore destroyed at Raffen and Kellahers here in Sydney.

As for all the neigh sayers and conspiracy theorists here, some comments are laughable. The shop had three sections SUP Windsurf and Kite. The fire was in the SUP section and gutted, the board rack was on the other side of that wall , masts fins booms etc were at the other end of the shop, windsurfing sails in the middle of that room, the kite gear round a corner. The place was a complete mess after the fire it stank and was very black. Some boards were extracted before it got too bad as far as I know. Some gear would be fried, some may be fine having been far enough from the extreme heat, you would have to inspect it & I'm guessing from the photos & prices some gear was in good order, got inspected and purchased.
