the 3rd runway resulted in the beach at the end of Ida St dissappearing. Now it's just a sea wall. Looks like the madness is going to continue...

I remember visiting the Botany Bay Hydrology model. It was really cool. A huge scale model of the bay, with a machine and tidal flows, where they tested out the effects of any changes. It shut down about 15 to 20 years ago, but I guess there's no point having it if they are just to let the developers do what they want anyway.

Hi Harrow and Wineman,

Well the issue of the marina at Brighton will ofcoarse affect the water activity on the bay.
If you have been at pittwater on the weekend you are not only battling the wind chop but also the boat wake from all direction so Kyeemah will become a washing machine affect.
The other affect will be the lack of parking for us and the residents, it will come to us arriving there at 9.00am to get parking and the sail at 2.00pm with the NE in summer it will be a real battle.
The long term plans also will be that the open land running parallel to the bay behind the first row of homes will be claimed and pier build freeway will link the airport tunnel thru to the captain cook bridge, this will ease the traffic flow some what.

So the development will be a hugh issue for locals but for the businesses after completeion will be in the money.

Well Kurnell looks to be the least touched area for us sailers to rig, park and sail interupted. Lets see what happens might be a coulpe of years away yet.

Hey Harrow are you competing or is it a true festival of food, wine and music anyway enjoy the weekend.

lets hope for some consistant breeze this weekend for all of us out there see you all on the water.

Is there any others development in other States that will affect your sailing lets us know whats happening out there.

Kind Regards
Walt

I don't think parking will be a problem once they introduce ....wait for it..... yes parking meters - $15 to park and sail - great

Hey Walt,
Where is the exact location of this open land you are mentioning?
Is there a website where this airport tunnel-captain cook bridge link project is presented?
In any case, with : desal.plant pipeline + marina + new freeway + any future ideas of the same brilliance, I'm afraid I'll have to go back to my old spot at La Perouse (can't be bothered with the long drive to Kurnell). Hopefully by then, the Great White visitor will have sailed off to Antartica
Cheers
JM
