Its getting colder & I noticed my 3 year old excel 2/3 streamer I wore yesterday is starting to fracture. Was already getting a bit chilli last winter, before that people were complaining & I wasn't feeling the cold. Soz time for a new wettie damnit. I never really get excited about buying a new wettie, its not like the excitement of getting a new board. Just a requirement for winter comfort.

My Excel cost $220 & lasted a few winters, so I'm looking at spending up to $250. I've got my eye on a 4/3 for a little over that, not gonna say what lol could end up finding my size suddenly sold out ...would like to hear if anyone knows of some good deals for up to around $250 for a good climb through the neck type wettie, not interested in old school back zip wetties, coz they suck for flex & warmth.

Anyone know of any good deals atm or upcoming sales...I need an MT steamer (2/3 or 3/4)?

Suddenly noticed a lot of Voltes in the water & found out (too late) a local surf store had 50% off. Called them & all their chest zips were sold out. Looked around & couldn't find any other good deals on them so I grabbed a 3/2 Quicksilver chest zip from ebay for $180 including delivery. Fingers crossed its better than the quicksilver wetties I've had in the past

Are Ocean & Earth wetties any good?

Any feedback here or via PM would be really appreciated.

Cheers for your time.

I got a physco3 as well. Fallen apart. Bought a new O'Neil epic. Has a hole on the back along the seam. Only worn 5 times. Has to go back under warranty. That is the last O'Neil I will buy.

My wife has a needs essential and she loves it

My ripcurl suits have always lasted pretty well 3 seasons of wear t 3-4 sessions a week

Quicksilver ebay store is gold and both my quicky suits are into there second seasons

Patagonia by far the warmest suit I've owned but watch the cut as they are a lot smaller in the chest/shoulders than the others

The Need Essentials & Voltes were highly tempting at their normal retail price, good value....Managed to score a good deal with a quicky SYNCRO 3/2MM GBS CHEST ZIP STEAMER for $180 that had some warm & cozy sounding bonus features along with a description of being F'N light tech lol...arrived today, in a funny looking box resembling a framed poster, really thin & light. Fits great, tight but stretchy (dry). Only concern is the overhead chest zip flap has to stretch over my head heaps more than my excel due to the design too hard to explain, hopefully not an issue. Smoothy outside chest/back with some spiffy Dry Flight Far Infrared Heat thermal lining, stuff inside. Still comfy in a springsuit on Sunday, soz might be awhile before a proper test...also came with a $10 coupon I will prob use on some 2mm booties if size 9 comes into stock, last pair were great. 3 year stitch warranty, 1 year materials etc. If it lasts up to a third winter I will be very happy, Pretty confident it will be warm from the get go

Has anyone got some feedback on how Matuse wet suites compare, to say Needessentials - I,m not too worried about warmth...just something that will last & reasonable flexible.

Yeah.

$525 + alpha vs $220
M claims ultimate materials, but at that price, well, I know where my money went.

I was keen on a Need LSSS but their out of stock, so found a local selling a slightly used Matuse (he bought wrong size) for same price as the Need.

Have not found anything good or bad about Matuse.

I bought a rip curl new style dawn patrol last year and the pull over head neck seal bit ripped.... I've also lost my receipt as they are supposed to be three year on stitching warranty..
volte wetsuits by all accounts are pretty good I heard it was a bit of a resurgence of the old west suits which for years were my number one go to...

i will have another look for my receipt for the rip curl, but little disappointed my last steamer was a 500 buck rip curl prior and the stitching unravelled down the back to leg bit (same again God knows where I put the receipt) that did two seasons so I just bought the dawnie/chest zip ..... I don't mind the rip curl ones for comfort but man 500 bucks for two seasons and now 350 for one and a half seasons is a bit rough

Surprised at comments about O'Neil falling apart I've had 2 and both have lasted longer than previous suits - pay a premium though and the need suits look pretty good

Seams cracked on both of mine and leaked like a sieve fairly quickly

Saying that I had a RipCurl that did the same.

My Need is holding up well. Going for a year now. The seams are different tho.

Do they leak, is the question.
