Ummm Guess where the first surfers to surf to surf the area were from...Perth. They were also the first to move there permanently. Did that make them locals?

agree it can be a circus at Easter etc but the so called locals get little sympathy from me. They don't own the joint just coz they moved down there. The joint is full of western suburbs Prue and Trudes who go down to their million $ holiday homes for the warmer months and call em selves locals.

and like I said before the joint can be frustrating anyway. So many days where you get what I call
"in between swells" where it is too oversized for open ocean breaks but not big enough for the points etc

Preston beach now.
Rangers and Police at The spot yesterday and it was packed again like it was Easter, please be smart everyone or it's coming sooner than we all think.

PS: I don't claim local status. I'm from Gero. In my experience the real locals don't really claim local status, and they surf well enough that they still get waves off the out of towners. My wife is a fourth generation local - they cleared land as part of a group settlement - and she almost never mentions it to anyone.

But I'm with Greenroom - to quote from the Simpsons, "Ha ha!" no down south for you lot.

Sadly, with no one working, crowds in the water have been horrible. 50 guys at Yals on Monday. 70 at Bears yesterday.

Sigh.....

In these hard times, I hope everyone is staying safe and finding things to fill their happiness Wells.

"In between swells"? That sounds like a nice solid day. You need a bigger board and a bigger set.

i wish there were more days like that. A bit of chunk to it thins the crowds out nicely and rules out blows in on their 6' not enough".

The best waves down there don't need a great deal of swell

Nice solid day where it's too big for big rock / lefties but not big enough for points etc = big fat burgers galore just about everywhere

Remember the crowds in Bondi early on? It's no coincidence that Bondi area then had the biggest jump in cases. Don't think your safe at the beach.
The big issue is too many selfish pricks, who should be quarantining as they have just come home from overseas, or have a sick mate, and yet they still themselves go out surfing..
I finally got my local with just 6 others for around 3 hours. That morning it had around 30 just on the peak i was surfing. The next day there was maybe 20 and it was absolute rubbish.
The next funny part is the beach when i was out, would have had maybe 60 people picnicking and sunbathing, (it was overcast)

Again, 's advocate, the peeps at Bondi, unlike at Point Populace, are frolicking on the sand and in the splash zone in pretty decent numbers, whereas PP was only in the lineup. Of course the least social distancing would have to be on the foam ball, what with all the drop ins and all.
But, yes!! Stay at home you sick little groms.

Haha nice hand grenade / wind up Green Room metro has been pretty ordinary and flat at my local so enjoy certainly the place to get isolated.
