hi all.. just back last night from there. took 3 boards up to 6'8 in a 7'2 cover. no worries but checked in early on the jet star flight. bit of relief really.
if anyone heads to Gerupuk hunt down a young skipper called Gabba Gabriel with the boat Kitchen Boo. did the right thing by me every time.

pay for luggage allowance up front
we were a bit over weight coming back, looking at $25kg

luckily they were very accommodating otherwise and we used a friends unused allowance

neither end (perth/lombok) seems remotely interested in length of luggage thou

I was partially hopping to restrict the wife on the shopping side. An entire spare 20 kilo bag will be too hard for her to resist

How long was the one you left behind What options did they give you to store it, or did you just have a mate pick it up

Six eight ish...
Yeah had someone pick it up.
What kind of airline flying into a major surfing destination, limits board size to 6'?
Seriously.

i am confused.( not that hard) Aelaide to denpasar is direct qantis flight on a 320(jetstar is the only option). I paid for extra baggage, told them that i have a windsurfer(2200) and they have said no problems . Any feed back on this ?

I have been working at the int terminal expansion and had a go at baggage handlers that literally throw our boards. It hurt to see them treat our WOMD in a way that should have internal policy or something to let them know that the travelling experience requires our equipment to travel first class. It felt good explaining how important our boards are but they are clearly the most ignorant and self gratifying group of workers you have ever met. The air of importance they hold on their position is different to anything I have ever noticed. Wrap your boards like they will be thrown at least 4 times without any consideration .

Video evidence to the media will have them change their handling routine quick smart, one would imagine.
