Yeah 1.9 mtrs only..Not happy i want to take a 6'4" and 6'2" but think ill just stick with the shorter board It does depend on what model plane your flying on though

Depends on the plane, the smaller one that leaves Perth has a restriction of 1.9m I'm pretty sure there's another plane that leaves Sydney that can carry longer boards.

I have taken my 7ft Coffin with them to bali no problems. Got a lot of questions once in bali by other jetstar travellers if I had any dramas getting it on as well. One guy had even sent his boards over via courier cos of their advertised 1.9m. The coffin is all I take though, no other luggage so don't know if that helps the cause.

The problem is as discussed before if you get stopped then your stuck. For me of 4 flights to Hawaii the last leg from Sydney home is the only flight I'm restricted to 1.9 Im just really not sure if i should take the risk Mine will only be 1.95 in board and 2.04 bag

Im starting to lose sleep over this, its stupid..

Hey Ricardo,

Doing the same in August and had no idea of any size restrictions at the time of booking.
Sent an email/complaint to Jetstar and received back over 3 weeks later,
' We hear your concern but nothing over 1.9m allowed", so in other words bad luck.
My first time flying with Jetstar and will definitely be my last.
In over 50 visits to Indo, I have never had any issues with size restrictions on any other airline.
jb I understand your stress. I cured it by ordering a new shorter board,
but I'm also lucky as I have a mate who lives there with guns aplenty.

Thanks for the info looks like its the 6'2 but ill see if things are different from Sydney, got return flights for under $500 which is pretty good but would love to take my gun as I like a bit of paddling power when it gets sizey and its still pretty loose for a 7'0-too good to leave at home.

I'm supposed to be taking the family there next month. going to cancel if they won't let me take the guns over. jetstar are like the telstra of the sky. they suck.
will let you know what they say….
its no wonder they canned flights to lombok if the main clients can't take what they need to enjoy the holiday the dumb freckers.
besides heading over on virgin in a couple of months anyway.

Don't panic yet Jetstar travellers. I have done a few trips and mates to with out hassle. Perth Jakarta, Jakarta Perth, Bali Perth, Perth Bali, Singapore Perth. All on their small plane with boards up to 6'8". On one trip Singapore to Perth a bloke had a 7'2" fat fun board, no problems.Jakarta to Perth a couple of pros with a bunch of boards in big long coffin bags, no problems. This is not to say it couldn't happen just letting you know my experiences. Not a fan of Jetstar at all and would not recommend them due to the hassles i've had with flight cancellations and delays but never had dramas with my boards. You could always chuck a hacksaw blade in your bag for worse case scenario, maybe a touch extreme but you can drink bintangs while it's getting fixed.

I think they're pretty understanding that most boards are over 1.9m and you would need to cop a pretty snotty check in chic to cause you grief.

I've travelled to Hawaii as well with my 7ft bag, Virgin to Syd, Jetstar to Hawaii and back, Virgin Syd to Perth, no problems. On the Hawaii-Syd Jetstar flight home there were heaps of pro's on it, and they all had two or three multi bags each.

Just stick some tape over the board bags tag that has its length on it

Take the risk, you'll be fine!!

Thanks, the bag is 6'7" but the boards are only 6'4" and after playing i really want my 6'4" so i think i will risk it thanks.. Worst case one gets gifted to someone in Sydney on the way home..

Do you think it will make a difference if the bag is lighter. Should i not pack fins and leggies that stuff in the bag

Yes thats the difference. Only A320 from Sydney home to Perth..

My wife booked all our tickets with Frequent fliers so really never even thought about boards. I was going to buy them all over their, but have decided it will take to much effort so will take mine, and buy/rent the kids and hopefully a couple of 666's

Yeah my Hawaii plane was the 330 but ive taken the 7fter on the 320 to bali. Just waltz up and stick the bag straight on the conveyor weigher thingo like all is good and im sure all will be good. As for weight, just be under whatever your limit is, arouses less suspicion that way!

And JB you wont resist buying boards over there when you see their prices so keep some room!

The reason for the limits is they're loaded into containers b4 being put into the plane. Virgin just load them 1 by 1 into a large holding area. It's safer this way because the bags can't move around in flight... So if you take your oversize board and it gets past the counter chick then you'll have a large underpaid bag room dude trying to stuff it in a container so don't worry about the hacksaw blades.. I guess then you'll really have something to complain about...

Another tip that a few mates have done, (i always go Garuda or Air Asia) is check in very early, ie; 3 hours prior to departure. It is usually quiet at the counter then, the check in crew aren't stressed and they MAY let things slide a little. Has always worked for them anyway.

I wont ever take boards on a Jetstar flight again.

They ruined my 6'9 on the way over to a Mentawais trip last year:

Its a A320 from WA

For some reason they take the boards from Perth on the A320 but not other cities

Even so I wont fly with them its not worth the uncertainty

Tommy looks like the board damage is from them forcing the boards into the crate,

Thanks for the note Buster.

Boards were well padded... nose and tail. Padding removed before photo was taken, to show damage.

Yeah it did seem like they must have jammed my bag into a crate. They certainly weren't gentle!

Either way... Never again.

Darwin uses the A320 as well. Pain in the butt as I'm doing a Mentawais trip and my "Gun" is a 5'9" MD.
