Why are you still using Smelstra?

If you have NBN in the area I would look at other providers. Then you don't have to experience Australia's greatest call centre ever again.

I got mine through another provider and told them all to bugger off with the telephone. We both have mobiles with more credit than we can use so we don't need a land line. The other bonus... No bloody telemarketers... Brilliant!

I have massive NBN envy

Lovely day :

1. Power streeing belt ****s itself and takes out the fan belt on the way to work...spent half a hour trying to get it sorted in the rain at 5am before limping home at 20k an hour trying not to blow a head gasket
2. Break a **** full socket wrench trying to get teh alternator on bolts off
3. Get it all back together and fire her up only to hear some funny noises and see metal flakes start pouring out of on of the bearings
4. Dis-assemble bracket to get to bearing find one stubborn nut that now requires a nut splitter
5. Back to bunnings for nut splitter when the boss gets home

....so far its cost me $80 buck and 5 hours and its still not back together...mechanics are an undervalued resource...I'd like to punch stubborn nuts

That is one tough day Tux. Hope you got it sorted. I never had any problems with my landi when I owned it Smicko - but my mate had a Disco and that thing was no amount of drama - cost a fortune to fix as well. I love Jap and Korean cars these days - life is a dream. My Getz has just clocked the 100km mark in 2.75 yrs and its cost me about a $1k all up including regular servicing ($148) and a new fan belt. Incredible. Runs like a dream. May not be the best looking car out there but in terms of $ value its unreal. Fits three boards inside as well with the front seat down

Haven't got down that route yet Cptn but I have heard horror stories. I wonder how Bakesy's is treating him?

I'm a rover tragic unfortunately, although my last one has definitely cured me. Threw about 20k at it in under two years doing a full build up on it. Picked it up on a Thursday after the third gearbox rebuild in 18months and went away for the weekend only to do the head on the way home. Spat chips and sold it for 3k.

They're by far the most capable 4b (except maybe a wrangler) in stock form. It's just a shame the parts are made from cheese and the electrical system from alfoil.

Have had both jeep and landrover smicko. Landrover treated me better but still had lots of electrical issues. The jeep was good for a year and then it turned to ****e. Driving Toyota these days and honestly wouldn't get anything else.

I hear ya man...unfortunately coz its a new house that needs the first connection & the (non NBN) local exchange is owned by Helstra. I need to get them to hook it up, flick the switch in the exchange & then fark them off by moving back to Exetel who I've been with for many years. I'd like to have no landline also, but the missus wants it so her mum can call internationally cheaper. No telemarketers calling sounds awesome, we've had a few calls lately. Dunno how they find us, its a silent number.

I hate it when you ask for a Hot Choc with "hot milk" and it still comes out luke warm. If I wanted a cold hot chic I would have brought a Moove.

Sounds almost plausible - why not give it a 'crack' and let us know if it works? Certainly it must be better than lime juice
