JB I only want the ones that are hanging around,I feel much saver surfing where we have nets and drum lines

I think a cull would have to be very specific ie big dangerous sharks that hang around a populated area.


I think that's reasonable.


what amount of time is deemed hanging around im not sure.


however if you go surfing at seal colony. no dice, no cull



ps actually make that any aggressive shark hanging around.


and while we are at snakes too - im talking about the little know but dangerous north qld mohawked cobra

Mac they simply don't hang around, the one spotted yesterday is grey and has fins, the one today has fins and is also grey coloured, its more than likely just a new one. If any "Lurking" is happening its because their is an over abundance of food in one spot. You'd be better to call for more commercial fishing to remove that first, because if you kill a shark, another will move into that area/territory.. (Edit: sorry the general rule is if you remove one large shark, its area will be filled by two or more smaller sharks, thats my fear)

Now i give up...

Maybe yep, and in that case no warnings were shared by anyone.. None of the people buzzed by the shark/sharks let anyone else know and hence a man died. He was let down by a lack of any warning or a warning system ..

Its i a large issue no warnings. For instance i wonder how many WA surfers would be aware of dead whales on beaches South of Mandurah ATM and the warnings issued by fisheries.

You simply won't find anyone with any level of scientific knowledge or a marine degree that supports that argument. For that matter you won't find one that says that culling sharks will reduce attacks. So why would we not listen to the educated in this case, who all says its the wrong thing to do

If people are sick do they turn to a journalist selling a headline for a cure Well maybe a few might but why would we not listen to the experts on this one..

Oh and Lacey how do you know if a shark is hanging around in a area? seriously one that is spotted today compared to one spotted the next day, how can you tell the difference..

I agree, some one mentioned that about a week ago. I cant see the problrm with this.

Why would I find it for you. You don't read them anyway. Like you commenting on the article in the Australian. Then saying I didn't even read it..

However I understand you think it is new cause you get all your info from the corporate owned media who sell ad space based on hyped up articles to the masses..
But maybe try the csiro. Or are the the Tasmanian papers doing their own research now?

And pretty much the same article was done last year in at least 2 papers.

Not enough fèed for protected sharks.frustrated punters

Cull /shark hunt is the only proper way to get this done .

the winter redneck shark classic.

Any way they can get them-
tnt, shotguns. Machine guns, beer; Bourbon, pot, crack. Cross bows for the purists and for the real huntsman- knife only.

that will get rid of a few.

there may even be a couple of sharks caught too

i would like to see a catch & release policy in place for GWS's

you catch them with a shotgun then release them
