Yes it's going to go soon if not already. Bit about it here with Ciel III. Both boats took their chances totally in 73 and 75 Hobarts albeit downwind and breezy..........

Ask to see the receipt for the motor and offer them the number at the bottom.

Won't go upwind or steer in reverse, but out on the open sea it's probably going to be as comfortable and safe as anything that size.

What I don't understand is the sick-bags in the photo. It's a 28 foot boat, if you're going to be sick, do it over the side!

I used to own a Swanson 28 ages ago, and now getting back into boating after a long hiatus so I spoke to Rod, couple of things to know. Boats in Lemmon tree passage, been sitting on the mooring for 2 years, needs an antifoul. The engine work is legit. Was done by Andrew at Northside Shipwrights as was most of the things listed. Couldn't get an age on the rigging (standing or running).

I really loved my Swanson, nice wide beam, quite comfortable. Cockpit always felt a little small, but moving from a tiller to a wheel (coming from a Tophat 25), really appreciated that boat. The forward facing windows in the cabin were nice too.

If it had a furler and a known age on the rigging, i would of jumped at it.

The "sick" bag is the emergency grab bag - it has the gear you need if you are going to jump in the life raft - flares, spare epirb, glasses, water, handheld VHF. You could vomit in it if you want - but it would make the safety gear harder to use.Nice boat for a singlehander or couple.

Looks like a pack of sick bags to me.

I wasn't suggesting the engine work wasn't genuine. I was suggesting that there would be a number that the owner would probably like to get back. Get him close enough to that number he's probably happy.

If structurally sound won't last long. Perfect harbour day sailer, twilighter, club racer.

Good post.

That boat is this forum's wettest dream!

I want to charter it for a week just to sit and quote Russell Crowe and make weevil jokes.

Ah yes, but could any of us live with the copious drain on our wallets of a 60 footer?

Ding Ding!
Yep. I came across my sail quotation for the 40' the other day, This was bad enough and this ain't exotic, uber cool 3DI sail cloth.
I'd shudder to think what a good 60'er wardrobe would be.

Yeah a lot would depend on the serviceability of the sails.

But the opportunity to go for a little cruise on the big ocean in a 65 footer and slipping along at ten knots without breaking a sweat.....

Pretty sure the cockpit grinder needs sweat to operate.

Built and based in Tassie. Has circumnavigated, including Cape Horn and Cape of Good Hope. Been through the Chilean Archipelago. Been taken North to South through the French canals with the centreboard up and the mast de-stepped and strapped along the boat. Done many trips up and down the east coast of Australia - Hobart to Brisbane and back. Been to NZ and back. Round the south of Tas into Port Davey many times. Circumnavigated Tassie many times.

Kalik 33. This boat was for sale many years ago and I was keen to buy it but was held up selling my business and it sailed off. I rate it a better boat than an SS34. I know it has a crook teak deck but it would still be an excellent boat.

My mate is selling his alloy Cole 42. This is a big comfortable yacht set up for single handed sailing. And no, there is no corrosion! He is keeping his Farr 37.

If you bought it for racing and aimed at $80k outcome you'd be doing pretty well. Sails alone would be worth a fair slice of that. I wouldn't touch it for cruising though especially with that deep keel.
