I guess its because they can depower 100% by flagging the sail into the wind.
That's funny. ^^^
Someone who knows nothing about windsurfing and attempting to describe wavesailing technique in kitespeak.
lol.
The poler opposite of this ...^^
is when clueless crew on the pole-forum try to talk kite,
which is all too often strangely enough,
go figure ?
Your right. I know nothing of pole dancing technique. I just note that the pole dancer can or does seem to enjoy a more offshore angle than what a kite can..... I'm guessing its the additional depowerability. But feel free to enlighten me of the appropriate dancing technique.
Done both and yes I think you are right. It's the depower ability of the sail.
You are really surfing the wave on a large surfboard and powering up when you need to.
Usually you only use the sail to help re entering onto the face if needed for added speed.
With a kite you need to keep some wind in it all of the time to keep it in the air so you tend to be pulled off the wave more .
Some offshore in windsurfing is almost perfect for wavesailing.
Added to that is a greater abiltiy to track up wind on swell using apparent wind while returning to shore on an upwind tack when saying an offshore angle
