Read this:

Finally an article that is objective and contains facts and relative statistics as opposed to tabloid driven hysteria.

Brilliant article. States everything simply and too the point.

Didn't you read the bit where it said we were going to wipe out the world population of sharks, marine life and all of the planet?

JB and southy did.

You have your opinion, i have mine. But how can you say that the above article is so great and full of facts. It was written by a journalist. If you believe the above journalist then you must also agree that every poll competed on culling sharks in the media has been at worst 66% against to as high as 95% for a few in support of no cull..If you read back I've listed those links..

Sorry i didn't list these new polls separately. But you can find a few more interesting results in this age.

Thats a great article and great journalism.

his government has a duty to protect citizens and he accuses protesters of hysteria. "What amazes me is that these people respond in this way to the WA government's efforts to protect our public, and say nothing about what's been happening in Queensland or NSW for years and years and years," he says. "I mean, it's lunacy." He has a point. Either the protesters value the lives of West Australian sharks more highly than eastern states sharks, or they value the lives of West Australian beachgoers less than swimmers on the east coast.

Mabe the W.A public value sharks more than West Australian beach-goers

Just because it agrees with your opinion, doesn't make it great Journalism. Its base less rubbish to be honest. Their is no more fact in that than any other published piece of political press..

Drum lines won't do anything, as far as they will not guarantee any personal safety. Enclosed swimming barriers would, Why does he not precede with that. Roll them out all up and down the coast. That's a guarantee.

The government has a duty to protect citizens? Really than if its the duty, then maybe they should introduce a curfew on water hours. Drum lines is nothing more than lip service, or baby kissing leading up to an election.

Good journalism, what a laugh

Ha, so it only counts when you post a journalists account of the situation?

Spending billions on trying to cut the road toll doesn't guarantee safety on the roads either; on that basis shall we stop trying to lessen the risk on our roads too?

That's a well thought out rebuttle jb, I'm sure surfers would agree it'd be effective for them.

Yeah, drum lines are ineffective, just as this report which you conveniently ignore shows;

A mate of mine caught this 10' bronze whaler - unintentionally - at Roe reef, just north of longreach yesterday. He reckons Colin owes him $6K. And yes the shark did shake the hook free & swim away safely & unharmed. 'Spose that means no $6K.
