About the Kennedy Rain Radar

Greenvale

The radar is well situated to monitor rain bearing weather systems that may affect the Herbert River catchment. Thunderstorms, tropical cyclones post-landfall and tropical lows, heavy rainfall from the monsoon and coastal troughs will be able to be tracked and the distribution of rainfall produced by these systems can be monitored to provide valuable information for flood and severe weather warnings. The Greenvale radar is currently undergoing an evaluation period of twelve months to confirm its coverage is unhindered in all directions. The location is expected to provide good radar coverage with minimal impact on the radar beam from any obstructions and provide a full 360° view. This will be confirmed after the evaluation period. At the end of the 12-month period these notes will be updated. <a
