If anyone is free and wind is holding up, I will probably head down to Rye after lunch if you want to join me. Possibly a couple of other sailors meeting me there.

Great to have people around to lend you gear when yours breaks. Thanks again Leman for the spare and taking the time. It would have been a very short session otherwise.

Well turned into a great afternoon of sailing down at Rye with about 7 different windsurfers including most of the regulars throughout the afternoon. Great turn out for a weekday. Witnessed two torn sails and one snapped spreader bad, thankfully none of the breaks belonged to me. Hope you northern bay sailors got a sail in.

Looking at the forecast it could be on earlier tomorrow so might make the trip again (via SHQ for spares)Maybe

Thanks Flipper, got some decent jumping in once a little west came through. I was extremely overpowered towards the end, had trouble not jumping by then.

Waggle: I wasn't even thinking that you might want to sail before SHQ is open I should have left the spreader bar with you. If you want to head off earlier or SHQ don't have what you need, you're welcome to swing by my place in Mornington to borrow it again. Text me if you do and I'll give you details.

I will probably just sail locally in the morning as I am limited for time.

Went for a sail off Mornington Pier this morning and pretty much got smashed. The ramps were huge for the bay and stupidly close together. The end result was getting smashed by a wave between the two beaches into the cliff rocks and having my rig do one of those airs lifts into the rocks. Somehow my board and rig washed up onto the rocks with no damage. Wind gods much be watching me. Then had to carry my gear along the rocks to the other beach and go get my car.

Probably the closest I've come to losing my rig and myself while sailing. Think I'll avoid this launch in 30+ knot northerlies.

Luckily all the yachts had been brought in because I found a couple of morrings on the beach. This is what the northerlies did last year here

There were actually a heap of surfers surfing between the yachts that day. I heard from other people that there were some windsurfers out along the bay coast just barely surviving on their 3m sails.

It was the day that it was gusting up to 70knots and sitting around 50. It ripped half the pier off.

The wind was no where near that big today but the bay waves here almost were. Lesson learnt though, not sailing here again above 30knots in a straight northerly.

Ahh,
my trusty Kode 74. I stupidly left my Acid 62 behind in my rush to get out there! It's amazing how well even a board that size can cope with that much !

Technically, that means your Kode 86 should be good for at least 45 knots!!

You know what's nuts Wooz - usually when you take a photo and it's windy it doesnt look as windy as it was.... but those pics look freaking windy!!

This is what happens when a gust hits and you get vapourized!



Akin to being in a food blender!
