Correct Wdave. From a surfing perspective the point has always referred to as Buxton. Either years ago they couldn't read a map properly and thought they were in a different location, or maybe 3 shelly points on the east coast could get confusing.
So we still call it Buxton even though geographically its not.

So the real Buxton point is mayfield jetty road, according to SLS As well. (beachsafe.org.au/beach/tas/glamorgan-spring-bay/rocky-hills/mayfield-point),

Is this what the surfers refer to??, if not what do they call this break?

there were a few guys out there yesterday, including Jez later.

So is it really shelly Kelverton or does the map lie??,

We dont want to be a bunch of dumb wavesailors, renaming points.

help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelvedon is definitely the spot with a southerly wind and 3m swell ...............if my leg wasn't busted I would have been out there.........sorry guys I just can't make excuses for you

Hard to repeat fridays sail Ant,
Not up to scratch for us yesterday, It was only about 10-12 knots when we drove back and could see out over the bay. I think it that size swell you really would need to be full on planing to be able to point up wind to be able catch the waves on the point.
I can imagine- Sail out , end up a bit down wind, Try and point up too the point, get caught out by a big 3/4 mast one with no wind on the face , PUSHED INTO ROCKS AND

BREAK THE LEG!!!

The point at Buxton, not the beach.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to offend, I shouldn't get emotional on this forum but I hope by now you know your friendship means a lot to me I'd probably end my life if you guys didn't keep picking me up

Now getting back to Buxton there was plenty of wind in the right direction one of the best waves I've seen on the east coast I was tempted to go out on one leg!!!!!!!!!!!

But no offence meant my life is in your hands

Sounds like a lost mainland surfer at the wrong point.
www.surfingatlas.com/spot/2669

There where a lot of chickens running around Mayfield yesterday, some on one leg.

The Buxton Banger.
The wind would have to be gale force s /sw to make it over the head land for cross off wave riding I doubt that it would set up that way with swell as well. south/ se wind was good for the swell to build and to get out of the bay going wide of the big ones .Makes for a light wind (even in 30knots)cross on take off then sideshore riding as you ride the wave around the point towards the beach (fun)

sailed at kelvedon today. Fickle 15 knots inside. Tricky getting out the back where the winds was solid and swell was too. Suspect swell will be good again tomorrow. Not sure about wind. Had a 100 l board an 5.5. Only just enough to get out.

Marty and wdave where did you guys spring from, where do you live, east coast or mainland? Be good if there was a wave sailor on the coast to give us reports.
