Bummer about the wrist band. My experience with Locosys on warranty and repairs has been quite frustrating, too. I eventually got one watch that was obviously not functioning replaced under warranty, after many emails, pictures, and videos of the issue. The replacement watch I received does not have backlight on the LCD screen, and the GPS button is very hard to press, but I did not want to go through the hassle of trying to return it again. The dealer was quite helpful in the warranty claim, but everything going back and forth always went from Locosys to the dealer and then to me, which made the process even slower. Not quite as slow as getting a definitive answer from them about a broken screen repair, though - it took them months before they eventually said the repair would cost about as much as a new watch, after adding the shipping costs.

Mate it is the responsibility of the place you bought the watch from to replace it , and then they have to take it up with locosys.. you shouldn't have to deal with that side of things..

I purchased my GW-60 via a local "shop" which then claimed, due to a falling out with Locosys, that they could not facilitate the warranty. I was forced to deal directly with Locosys who could not have made it more difficult to process the claim despite the defect being a straightforward issue to prove. I ended up having to ship the unit, at my cost, back to Taiwan.
The watch, in general, works well but is let down by the use of poor quality materials.

Maybe something like this Military Watch Cover could work for a GW60, protects the screen and also would prevent losing it if the band broke.
It would probably be a bit annoying though.

Well ok don't mind what I said above, it is just my opinion. What bugs me is that Locosys refuse to sell spare parts for their watch.

Actually, every single post is not a complaint, I was just stating the facts. The GW60 has an obvious design flaw and Locosys is too chickensh_t to honour it's warranty. Now THAT'S a complaint

The GW60 is a tough looking watch designed for action sports, there is an expectation of toughness. From what is talked about here it sounds like it's not a simple wear and tear issue. Some are failing early. AND they won't replace the watch under warranty AND can't replace the band.

I have three experiences I can think of;
My Rip Curl watch, broken rubber band after 4-5 years, I was able to buy a new band.
GShock watch, use it everyday, covered in paint etc, has never broken after 5years.
8 year old sons fitbit style watch by Garmin, he pulled and threw it around so much it broke after 6 months. (Like the red one below) They replaced it with a more expensive model that didn't stretch over the wrist but had a buckle on it, for FREE.(white one)
These are the expectations for an Australian with our consumer laws!!!

If your Samsung TV stops working during the warranty period, do you lodge a complaint with Samsung or the retail agent you purchased it from. Obviously its the retail agent you purchased it from.
Why then are you referring your warranty complaint direct with Locosys. Have you referred your complaint to the retail agent you purchased the watch from.? If so, what was their response?

This is the response from the store.

" Hi Tim,
In the opinions of Locosys, the importer and myself, the watch strap has been broken 8 months post purchase. This is not something that is covered by warranty and does not appear to be a manufacturing defect. If it was a defect, it would have broken while being used the first time. It's most likely the break happened accidentally while the watch was in a bag or some other time when not sailing, such as being transported etc. Based on the information available, there is no need for us to offer a remedy at all. However, as a gesture of goodwill I have already offered a heavily discounted replacement - which you've refused. "

The heavily discounted price was the same I bought it for. Locosys offered to repair for $US130 + postage. I told them, in short, after a few emails, that wasn't acceptable. I'm not expecting much from here.

Yes, I think it's a design flaw as well. Looking at where it broke, it's not that thick. I suggested to Locosys they use a robust metal hinge, or embed a kevlar mesh where the high stress points are in the band.

H Tim , I have been in windsurf retail since i was 18 , 52 now so long time better get real job...
By Australian consumer laws a warranty of 12 months has to be offered and good must be able to withstand what would be expected of such and item such as a sports watch. It is easy for a wholesaler or manufacturer to fob you off with an email as they dont have to deal with you face to face . But the buck stops with the retailer , we obliviously talk to manufacturer but in the end we have to honor the warranty..

Only buy local?
(that way there is a local orifice to shove your watch up)
