2 places ive been most scared is out the back at queens and in the passage at bongaree both in a big SE.

difference at bongaree is you just need to clench long enough to hit the flats on the other side.

at queens the mountains just keep coming

There are a few local conditions that can catch you out, but we'll fill you in when you get here. Generally though, the easiest/safest solo weekday sailing will be at Oxley Place Sandstone Point, but if there's enough wind to sail you'll rarely ever sail solo because Johnny B will always be sailing and usually a couple of others too. South Esplanade is great in the right conditions but can catch you out in the wrong conditions.

Give Beachmere a crack Gestalt, I'm not good enough to sail it when it's 25+ SE so generally sail local when it's cross shore NE or sometimes SSW but the SSW can be a bit gusty, however the water is swimming pool flat and clean with perfect sand bottom when it's a good SSW day.

i am very keen.

how deep is beachmere?

I always consider the consequences of breakage and how do you get back. Queens you basically get blown back to the beach no biggy as for most places in the bay, outgoing tide Bongaree and you have a hour to get back to the beach and a walk back. Outgoing Woorim you need good buddies or a phone call to the clubbies.

Bloody hell , I thought u were joking . The surfer who got his board bitten while riding it at Woorim a couple weeks ago .

^^ Hahaha, heaps of 3-4m tiger sharks patrol from Woorim thru Dbay to Redcliffe. Looking to feed on stingrays n mullet. If you dont cruise around like a stingray or jump like a mullet ya should be right.

so how deep is at beachmere?

young fella wants to learn to jump and he hasnt been doing waterstarts for very long.

Plenty of water if the tides in. Huge area waist to shoulder deep. Very flat sandy beach way out at low tide. Perfect for any level B&J.

Sorry about the slow reply Gestalt, it's a very shallow beach for 400m or so from the shore and best of all no rocks or hazards other than blue jelly fish and a few rays. Probably look for more than 1.4m at the Brisbane bar and you'll get more than enough water to use a 30cm fin. On a 2.5m tide it'll be chest/shoulder deep a couple of hundred metres from the shore. Just pick a nice sunny day with any sort of east in the wind and come for a drive, Phillip Street is a pretty good spot to rig but there's no water/showers so bring your own water for a rinse off before driving home.
