Yes big congrates to Justin Lord, a massive effort. The windsurfers certainly held their own on the day, by all accounts. Looking forward to reading about the race on the Windsurfing Religion blog

Justin, well reported from the front end of the fleet.
I was chasing up from the back end after missing the start. Managed to catch-up 3 of the other Raceboards to Lion Is - but the breeze faded quickly on the way to West Hd. So it was a rather slow almost square run for most of the way home, with occasional moments of PLANING if you had anything left to pump with.
In contrast I notice that you actually did a lot more PLANNING but with reasonable amounts of PLANING

I had the opportunity to sail but chickened out - needed a smaller sail than an 8.5 today!
But am intending to give the Raceboard and 8.5m a run tomorrow from about 1pm to 4pmish.
I'm keen to do a bit of a marathon from SaltPanPoint (just north of RMYC) to the heads and return. Or to LionIs if the wind is of comfortable strength.
Anyone else keen?

Left the 8.5 semi-rigged in prep for today's forecast wind. I'm hopeful of perhaps a 1pm to 3pm session.

Wind was okish 3:30 to 4:30 westerly 5 to 15kn in gusts and perfect sunshine.

Oh yeah, I had one of the most sublime sails ever. 9am - 1pm. Headed out to Broken Bay in just enough wind to rail into the northwester. Once out there it was a blissful 12-15 with water sparkling like diamonds and light like an eternal sunset. I sailed 'round and 'round between West Head, Patonga and Lion Island on a buzzing high with not a soul in sight.

I hope to be out and in to the westerly mid-morning - before it gets too much for my skill (or lack of) with an 8.5m2. See you out there somewhere between Avalon and Norwest cnr of Scotland Is.

Some hefty 25kn+ gusts (around 12:30 to 13:30) made yesterday’s Pittwater session quite a challenge.
Didn’t have enough weight or strength in these gusts to prevent being screwed up into the wind and being slammed on my back into the drink.
Retreated back to shore for the warmer long-john wettie and protein sustenance.
Yep - I need smaller than 8.5m for winds consistently over 20/23 knots!

Back out at 15:15 the breeze had moderated back to 5 to 15kn to make for a memorable arvo session railing to windward and a few back strap hoots downwind; returning to shore around 16:40.

BeachStart scored plenty of fast runs before, during and after the wind peak.
Apart from the occasional motoring vessel, we had the whole sunny Pittwater to ourselves!

Looks like there could be some more good wind for later this week /weekend.

I get my toys back tomorrow so out this weekend on what ever mother nature blows at me.

Tomorrow's forecast wind direction is looking good for Pittwater - Stokes Point to northern end of Scotland Is.
Will we get some of the DAC crew??
We could meet over at BYRA; race down to Stokes; then regroup at Stokes for some windward-returns.
