wow... I have never seen it blow that consistent in Gerroa. Bummer I didn't make it down there...

...on a more serious note... looks like Sunday/ Monday could be worth it.

Someone needs to make a call to Dial a swell, preferably logo high, from the south/south east. Thanks

Gerroa disappointing to say the least.
How good was "Spot W" for the 3 of us that ventured there mid-arvo??
Same wind strength that only got stronger, and quality waves, bigger and better.
Stoked.

Spot w must really suck, in the swell I mean. As there was no swell
anywhere on the coast today. Still it was a priviledge to see you
in action today at gerroa wave panther, keep up the good work!

Well Fly Boy, there was a bit of swell around today. Unfortunately we were at the spot (Gerroa) that loses it too quickly if its not south swell.
However, Spot W is more exposed to todays direction. Not massive, but a couple of feet more than Gerroa and more grunt.
I can't believe you only had one guess where it was then gave up. I would have led you to it if you agreed to drive blindfolded.

if it was 2 ft bigger than gerroa the would have made it 2 ft
It must be close to gerroa though if you guys left after 3 and still got
a sail in

The secret spot was pretty awesome considering there was little swell. Sets late in the day were getting close to shoulder high.

True story too. Secret spot is within 20 minutes. But as robby naish says "you'll never find it even if you look for it"

Hard to tell. We drive such high-powered machines that we'd get anywhere pretty quickly.

Yeah spot W was good. It got windier after you left qwerty but it started to taper off when i left at 530. At least there were some meaty sections to hit. I should have got there a bit earlier when you dudes did.

Robby Naish was actually wandering around looking for it, but he couldn't find it.

The thing about spot W is it needs wind or it's pretty average, IE it needs to be at least 5m weather I reckon. Upon arrival in the vicinity of Gerringong this was not the case. The swell was easterly so it was getting into gerroa a little bit so it looked like an okay option. As the arvo wore on and the wind and consequently the NE wind swell picked up Spot W started 'working'

Good to hear you had a good sail anyway. Nothing worse
than driving 2 hrs and finding a flat gerroa

I guess that's the price you pay for a usually reliable NE wind, at least it's not too bad a trip from the gong. This summer has been truly **** for swell though, particularly when the wind is NE. I can't remember the last time I sailed gerroa when it was over 3ft.

I know where spot W is - we had a Vista from the Sea View and saw it working. Looked pretty sideshore as the wind was NNE. It definitely worth consideration if Gerroa is too small. Personally i would prefer a little onshore if there is something of a wave and side off with only 1/2 - 1'' to play with.

Yeah it's basically dead cross shore when it's a NE'r, goes more cross on down the south end but it seems better up the north end.

It's hardly secret I just thought it would be entertaining to get on the WA 'omg secret yet not so secret locations' bandwagon ^_^

while spot x in WA ain't so secret there is a place further south with an incredible wave and almost always cross off-shore wind even... the crazy thing is that it's more reliable than Gerro yet there is almost never anyone there. Even more amazing is that it can be dead flat and windless in Perth while this place just seems to work.

I once posted the name of the place in the WA section and nearly go killed for it.

Happy to share next time I see you guys at the beach...

... just a while stab in the dark... could spot W be Werrri Beach?

I think most people know the WA secret spot your talking about. Easily found if you know anything about geography, Lucky euros can't use maps very well so hopefully it won't get crowded.

Back to our secret spot. Werri sucks. Spot W is way better. If you find it, be careful. 50% of the time people come in with shark bites.

Also, and most important, we need to keep it secret because there are so many windsurfers in NSW that it will get so packed. If people find out there could be at least 4 or 5 people sailing it.

Actually I don't mind Werri as a sailing spot. Even that would have been a better alternative to Gerroa yesterday as well. Easier launch than Spot W too.

But 'W' does feel sharky though. Maybe I didn't notice 50% of the shark bites I sustained out there.

and yeah, maximum of 3 people only. Any more than that and Quicksilver will try to buy it.

Anyone planning an assault on the G tomorrow? Forecast looks promising/sketchy but the swell is UP...although on the fall. It's an easterly swell so i'm thinking it will get in, maybe just down the beach a little further. IF it works imo it could be one of the best days of the season there.

Thinking of packing the car and leaving work early if it's on.

As long as the rain/ thunderstorms stay away it could be very nice indeed. Went for sail last week Tuesday. Shoalhaven Heads was 4.7 but the tide wasn't right. Did a late session at Gerroa itself. Was on a 5.4 (which was a bit big) with the odd wave coming through. Given the swell direction I was surprised there were any waves at all.

I'll be checking the radar images tomorrow morning. At the moment here Sydney it's clearing up and the upper atmosphere airflow has gone NE (at the clouds started moving that way).
