I thought you had to round the mark? So you only have to go past the mark?

My fin was way to small to get enough hight to get up to the outside mark,
after 2 runs, so I just sailed over till I was about level & gybed.
I never sailed for 6km in 1 direction b4, didn't take that long actualy.

Lick the lens, it helps keep it clear..
I'm disappointed..I was hoping for some footage of when the outhaul gave way . The board went one way and I went the other..
I mustn't have had the go pro on then.

Here I was staying upwind to lay the mark..Wouldn't that give the people downwind an advantage as they could go on more of a reach ?
I thought if we couldn't lay the mark we'd have to gybe and do another short leg..

Thanks Sue for posting that fantastic to get on the local news and A HUGE thanks to Arron for organising this, the community relay got behind us. We still have accommodation prices and meat prices to give away at the state slalom at Myall lakes.

The first race we probably rushed a bit and had the outside Mark too far up wind it was hard to adjust due to it being 6km runs. we learnt and got it correct for race 2.
Personally way more fun racing a course , and for spectators as we seem organised and together not all over the place. The replays Andrew has done would make no sense if we were not together it would just be numbers.

So just clarifying - you don't have to round the marks - just go as far as them and gybe?

Hi Sue, yep that's right, I think you were out on the water or re-rigging during the briefing for race 2 - after the learnings and feedback from race 1, for race 2 everyone was to gybe round the inside mark, and for outside mark if you really couldn't get up to it to gybe near it. Sundays races 3 & 4 were similar, but its worthwhile to go to each race briefing to know what the plan is, as it can change during the day as the wind and water conditions change.

I also really enjoyed the format of gps racing that was run at Forster, more like a true slalom race but with some flexibility, and looking forward to the next round.

Notice for racing this weekend Saturday 10th November is cancelled but final decision on Sunday 11th November will be made tomorrow before lunch.
It frustrating seeing NE breezes either side of the weekend but the high pressure has not moved out quickly enough for Sunday at this stage.
The committee wants quality and enjoyable racing for everyone but we are at the mercy of the wind gods .

The organisers will send out messages to the group with info on briefings, start times, wind conditions etc.

Please keep it as a one-way communication (organisers to competitors) at this stage. Anyone who spams the group will need to buy a round of beer at the bar on Friday night.

excellent weekend....Did a ton of sailing over the 3days....Best place...Thanks to the organisers...Much appreciated...Cant wait to get up there again...

4 days of sailing in a beautiful location parked the car and it didn't move for 4 days rigged from my tent site on the waters edge.
wildlife every where and really enjoyed talking to every one and enjoying a beer at night just great times with great friendly people had a blast.
Well done Andrew for winning the lucky draw prize 2 night accommodation in luxury waterfront villa fantastic prize.

please note this weekend Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th December is Round 3 of the NSW GPS/Slalom series and its looking good for slalom /GPS. volunteer's required let me know if you can help.

We are also going to try and run the state slalom in January Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th in conjunction with the round 4 GPS series which will now become a two day event Saturday and Sunday in lake Macquarie. Obviously some stuff to work out but need volunteers to make this happen.

Also next year 2019 state slalom November Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December will be same time next year Myall lakes I have done a deal with caravan park again. so please ring up and put your name on a cabin or camp site. reserve your cabin or camp site now as people are booking them quickly. Commit and come away for a fun weekend.
