Don't you own a Go?
Yeah I do but my biggest sail is only a 6.5. I want something in the region of an 8 for days around the 10 knot mark
Any tack you don't fall in on is decent plus you don't lose any ground. In regards to gybes, just remember the more speed you bring into the gybe the more you will bring out: ie, if you are planing at 10 knots you won't be planing if put the brakes on early on.
On the GO its relatively easy to tack without falling in. Its on the Sonic that I want to really get good on.
Don't get proficient at waterstarting. Don't fall in coz it means you stuffed something up. The bestest windsurfers in the world have no idea how to waterstart coz they never fall in.
I think this is more for my own peace of mind as I do a lot of sailing on my own I want to be sure that when I am out on the smaller board I will be able to get going no matter what the conditions are.
Getting air is simple. Hit a ramp flat out. Stick the nose downwind of the tail if you land nose first. otherwise land tail first.
I have to learn how to make the board do what I want it to, when I want it to lol. At the moment its generally more a case of hook in and hang on and try to go as fast and hard as I can. I think once I get over the adrenalin rush I get every time I get planing, I will concentrate more on trying new things.
