Hey decrepit nice photo love em
Did you have any doors left in your house?
Looks like you took it off its hinges, removed the knob and stuck on a fin
Did it have rails? Looks like it was square in shape? When did the curves and rounded edges come into the design? Rocker? What did you use for wax?
I think its awesome how you were there during that era
I'd love to come to that BBQ

Thanks Greeny, yep I didn't use all of them!

It had round rails but they were very boxy, bottom and deck were flat.
the blank was 4"X4" balsa logs glued together, the rocker was sawn out of the front and back, the top dead flat.
The photo is when it's just been finished, the next stage was waxing up. Tried beeswax for a start but ended up using candles, OK in the summer but a bit hard in winter.

We're of to Gero be back next month, have to see what Hardie & Elmo are doing. There's BBQs at the carpark. Talk about the devil Hardy's just pulled up with camping gear and stuff loaded up.

Been busy scanning B&W photos and colour slides, so there's a few more posted now, can't be bothered linking all of them, but this is the last.

Thanks for the photos De'crep. Some real great shots there. I imagine you have many more tucked away somewhere.

Its good as well that you can share it would be a fkn crime to loose this stuff. You should scan and save all your old photos and start a blog.

Am willing to help.....

Certainly happy to share but I'm not sure about a blog, and I don't think there's much more interesting stuff.
I guess I'll have to go thru it all sometime and sort it out. Photography was/is a minor hobby, but there's a lot of junk.

Dunno about the golf, but that point is cranking.

and as you say timeless, could have been 20 years ago, or 200. Such a great place such an unforgiving wave.

Fairly slowly as I remember, wasn't long before I went high tech and built a new fangled foam model, mind you that wasn't a heap lighter, had jarrah stringers and Karri plywood nose piece, and a 17oz + 6oz glass job, but did have more rocker thou. I certainly remember turning that.
Used to practise with a plank of wood sitting on a rock near the back of the plank.
Standing on the plank with a foot either side of the rock.
The exercise was to lift the front up by weighting the back foot and pushing in diferent sideways directions with each foot as you did so. getting a big plank to turn 90deg was the goal.
It's a very similar action to turning a heavy mal, lots of effort involved!
