I'm not sure about all this divide and conquer theory - lots of little specialised forums seems like a good way to kill off the community feel of seabreeze. Given that there's a trend for things to stay on topic for about 5 posts before dissolving into a spiel about 'how to Elmo an aardvark' or 'how pathetic kiteboarders are' anyway, I can't see much benefit in spliting it all up.

Separate forums still wouldn't keep trespassers out - waveslave will still go trolling, so will OceanGirl (that was pretty good trolling though!) Even our american friend will find a way to sneak back in and ask questions about lake sailing and longboards or cammed sails in a "WAVE ONLY" section..

Topics would seem to be enough?
Besides, really colo plepeo don't need a specific venue to be colo. We just are..

True I never thought of it like that. I frequest a RC helicopter one also, and it has about 30 forums. Some of them are for your other hobby so for people who primarily fly RC heli's there is a (wait for it...) get this: gardening forum. So yeah maybe it would be taking it too far.

But then again, we need a wave forum as it is the only true windsurfing, and much more specialised, difficult and hardcore than GPS

You radical wavesailing dudes you

Re Wavesailing Forum, yes why not. Good idea!!!!!

But I agree with 555 and Mark A's later comments, .......let's not get too narrow minded or elitist about these things, I know some comments are in jest, but there seems to be this attitude thing....... They are both windsurfing, both are interesting, and we can appreciate both aspects of the sport, If we create a divide between 2 aspects of windsurfing then what the ... are we doing? It's crazy

I purely wavesailed for 12 years, amd still interested in it, and still fascinated by great wavesailing........ATM, I'm more interested in gps-speedsailing that's just a personal thing.......However, it does say one thing.... and that is........ that if wavesailing was the ultimate and most elite form of the sport, why would a wavesailor who lives next to a wavesailing beach, who is competent and really enjoys wavesailing go and do something inferior? Maybe it's not inferior..... and it is just different, but equally enjoyable and exhilarating but in a different way? And this is a fact, it is far more accessible because you don't need nature to kick up a swell, look at jan and feb in Perth, how many swell days over 2m were had? Bugger-all, yet there were lots of windy days with flat water, doesn't take someone with much intelligence to work out the appeal?

One of the great things about wavesailing, is the travelling to great wave-spots, that is required bec perth isn't best for summer swell, I still love travelling to places like Gero, looking fwd to wavesailing over easter and april school hols!! But I can't be bothered travelling on weekends anymore

Why Is everyone waiting one my words of wisdom????? surely not.

I love my speed sailing, being well outside my comfort zone and pushing to exceed my personal limits

and

I love my wave sailing, wave sailing to me is something I have always enjoyed, is very personal and is good for my soul.

Some observations I have noted between the two crews

Both Wave sailing and Speed sailing crews are on the whole a great bunch of people, the difference is when there is a whole truck load of them in the water.

You get 30 people on the water at a wave break on a good day and you hear about the sweet wave rides but also you hear a hell of a lot of bitching about who snaked who etc

Where as you get 30 speed sailors together and the amp just flows through the crowd, the etiquette seems to be quite a bit more adhered to possibly due to how much it hurts when things go wrong, everyone encourages everyone and helps out and when someone does the happy dance because they've cracked a PB, everyone has a smile on their face and offers their sincere congratulations.

With forum discussions I can't really see wave riders talking up a wave spot as then it will end up chockers and the original people end up P'd of.

The only person I've seen who can describe the feeling of wave sailing is The King, he's got the buzz going on. But at the end of the day it's all about feelings you experience, apart from when you sail with a couple of mates and the discussion gets more animated and the waves get bigger the pits deeper and the wipe outs more horrendous.

The gear for wave sailing is also a touchy feely thing, what works for one rider won't work for another, and a lot of kit is "fashionable" sorry guys but it is.

Speed sailing is objective not subjective which means you can quantify your results and performance, ie Action talks and bull**** walks. It doesn't matter what gear you ride as long as it works (one of my quickest boards is over 10 years old).

I personally think some people need to HTFU and get over it, stop worrying about what other people are doing and enjoy what they are doing whether they be speed sailors, wave sailors, freestylers or kiters.

Elmo. You took it all too seriously.

Should I use a soil conditioner around my agapanthus, or just see how they go in the alkaline soil here?

Wave sailors must be more interested in surfing waves then surfing forums Then again, a thread under the WWA section may not be the first place waveys look for a wave or a wave forum...

Segregation within windsurfing is not a great idea, but it's apparently what people want, when we used to talk about gps and speedsailing, people used to whinge and say we dominated the forum, so someone asked Laurie for a separate section and Laurie kindly obliged, as Laurie is a good listener and tries to please his customers. Basically people keep asking for segregation One thing in favor of segregation is that the forums are getting pretty busy with increasing no's. all the time, and it can be hard to follow a topic as it quickly gets pushed off the page. One thing you quickly learn with large numbers of people is it's impossible to please all people, so don't try.
