thats 28mm which makes it lighter, i dont have a problem with 32mm booms but i got big hands...

Mine is 25mm, it's more ergonomic to hold onto, less energy expended..

30mm is like a tree trunk..

I imagine Loft are fully aware their booms will not be bought by a large proportion of the windsurfing public..

price is not always a good guide. often you get what you pay for, but in the case of booms i've had many of a well known and not cheap brand that just kept breaking. Bought a $130 loft boom that has well out lasted that over priced rubbish.

one loft boom that last three time longer than a niel pryde that is three times more expensive..... does that mean they 9x better value?

Maybe thats why Pryde name their top of the range boom X9?

Agree with all said the trades practices act says that goods sold to consumers must be fit for purpose and there is a test of reasonableness this means that it should last at least a while if that period was tested by a reasonable person. It would be unreasonable to have a boom delaminate after such a short period of time. The shop also can not under the TPA put warranty claims onto the customer, they are duty bound to cover the warranty of the stuff they sell themselves. If the distributor no longer honours a warranty it is the problem of the shop not the customer. Stick by your guns take the boom back tell them you require a refund or will be pursuing them under the terms of the the TPA. It is up to them to pursue the people they bought it off. btw that same set of rules will apply to them and the distributor.

Yeah I learnt on botany, I know the average Botany windsurfer would be happy with a Loft boom..

Not everyone would be happy with a $130 bicycle from Kmart. Thats not to say that Kmart don't sell lots of bikes. It's just not everybody would settle for the cheapest bicycle option.

That's a fair point and why I have a $80 coles bike (how someone can make a bike that cheap in china, send it here and a make a profit is beyond me!) for my ride to the ferry and a full carbon roadie for my commute.

Still, the loft booms are great value.
