Hi imax,
there will be 3 versions
1. Racing with full centreboard for windsurfer class racing. Centreboard protrudes into the deck area.
2. School will narrower centreboard and slot covered over on deck - Centreboard retracts fully into the board. Uncluttered deck. Better for freestyle perhaps.
3. SUP - slot covered over with a handle insert where centreboard would normally go at front of slot on deck. Also uncluttered deck bu at Centreboard would be handy for light winds upwind ability.

board itself identical otherwise

I finished the first race. Hell on water. Carnage everywhere. Sat out the second race. Third was canceled. The Wally LT excelled. Condition's were past Wally weather. Very happy and very stuffed and sore.

Best to contact the importer, and a driving force behind this resurgence, Windgenuity, Greg Johns for pricing. At this stage, I believe only race version available but best to talk to Greg.

Windgenuity - Phone: (02) 9982 6444
Email: [email protected]
im assuming all versions will be available come summer in Aus.

I would also also recommend joining the Windsurfer Class Association if you may be interested in racing. For a mere $50 /year including Insurance it is a cheap way to help the sport develop and be eligible to compete in the cheapest sailing class there is.

windsurferclass.wordpress.com/membership/

currently race board is $750 members and $1100 non members.

less than $2000 for complete rig and board for members.

expect a much higher price next year though.

Up here it is I think mate. They've been testing them out down south since the Nationals in January.
It went really well considering the conditions. The second day my hart wasn't in it and my tuning was bad, but still seemed to out point the Old Wally. Neil did an amazing job finishing two races on Sunday before they called it. I didn't have my GPS on, but I would have loved to know what speed I was doing at times. I had her going over 22 knot's on Monday and that was mild compared to out on the course. She was flying.
Good Photo's. Good to meet you and the crew. Hope to get down to RQ for a few races.

The first ones only arrived a few weeks ago, I think your wally made history. At 22+knts its most likely the fastest one so far as well.

Gee I wish we had those conditions down in NSW on the weekend with the new Wally LT. Sailing with the Gosford boys on Saturday experienced a few gusts up near 8 knots but majority around 2 knots!

Racing on Pittwater in the Peter Loft Marathon on Sunday, a 20km course, maximum gusts about 5knots, average 2 knots, got a ride home on the rubber ducky as the wind dropped even further.

so unfortunately, my first official race on the LT was a DNF

Plenty of windsurfer competed in a field of 80 craft. There were at least a dozen windsurfers sailing on phantoms, F2 Lightning's, RS380 and more in Windsurfer division.

Windsurfer division was WON BY JOHN DOOLAN ON A DIV II LECHNER that absolutely blitzed the field and may have even got outright first (racing against Moths, cats, sailfish, Laser, 505's and numerous other craft) had the field - it is alleged (another sporting outcome to face controversy after the Newcastle Jets were robbed on Saturday night) observed the race rules and rounded the Barrenjoey Marker. The wind was so light and so slow that obviously numerous competitors took a little shortcut.... obviously the windsurfers didn't partake in such dubious ethics.

Was Neil from Big River at Cootharaba on a LT, a One Design or what? It would be great to get something happening with the LTs or One Designs here in northern NSW. (EDIT - Don't worry, I found a pic that shows him on a One Design.)

Armidale - we have the highest level of sailing in the entire country, and that's a fact. Well, it's a fact if you mean "highest level" in terms of altitude above sea level, anyway. We're getting ready to move house and for a short overseas trip in late May, so sadly I probably can't make it to Byron then.

There is a new kid on the block. A modern One design. The GLIDE.
35 litres more than wally lt but lighter.,has a proper rig and even footstraps. Looks better than an RSX but less than half the price.
Will be produced with charter events in mind and licence to multiple manufacturers.
There is a video of it on Bruce Kendall's facebook page.

Now there's choices for the 100+kg watermen The Wally's still cheaper but I guess you get what you pay for.

I believe a correction is required to the earlier post comparing the 'new' GLIDE to the new WOD LT.
The GLIDE has the specs written on the hull : 2.99m long & 220 litres. The new WOD LT measures 3.66m & has a volume of 229 litres.
The GLIDE weight is mentioned as 14kg. The WOD as 15kg. Not sure what deck & hull fittings are included in either one.
So please explain the GLIDE being 35 litres more !!

PS. Latest number of AUS orders for the new WOD LT is 140+

The board that says 220 litres has different graphics ,maybe a prototype.Bruce Kendall says in the video(with a strong kiwi accent) 276 litres and "an extremely large weight carrying capacity".

Hey Jeff, jump onto facebook and search for "Bruce Kendall Glide" and watch the video.

It looks like a great board. But commercially it cannot be considered to be a rival to the Windsurfer LT because it has simply missed the boat in terms of gaining a market. Whether you like it or hate it, the Windsurfer LT works well commercially because it had a ready market of Wally sailors all the world over wanting to convert over to the new board. Getting new buyers (who don't already have a Wally) for LT's will just be a bonus for the manufacturers.

The Glide will become lost in the multitude of "One Design" boards out there in the world that have already lost relevance. Unless someone with a heap of money picks it up and creates a series for it, the Glide will just be another family fun board.

Jeff, surely there's a little patch of grass spare for one more board?
Plus the new LT that's coming.
