Young fella sailing at Point Danger Torquay. In the "good ole days" you could park your car on the point and look down onto the break. Car park full. Im flying toward shore and decide that a high speed gybe with a massive rooster tail will impress the carpark masses. Unhooked starting the carve when hit sandbar and faceplanted in front of carpark. Flashing lights and tooting of horns haunt me to this day...

Did similar to that on Sunday at Pt Danger! Got out of the straps before sandbar, still hooked in...relaxed a little too early & ended up lying on my back, hooked in on top of the sail, right out in front of all the onlookers...how embarrassing!

Things were destined to go wrong early when in my mad rush to get on the water I realised that I had left my boom back at the camp. Ended up a good day though!

By the time I had it sorted the race had started and the wind had died.

Went home and sulked.

Sounds like you didn't miss anything other than bobbing around with no wind.
