This doesn't work for me at all.
is this the best selling boards of all time, in terms of numbers made or sold? (In which case, who cares, because the market is not what it was - so better modern designs will sell in fewer numbers... )
I suspect this list is already a bit old, because where are the more recent classic designs like the Starboard Kode? Some good modern brands don't even feature.
The boards that came out over the decades also suited the average sailor's ability of that time. So certain boards found their middle-market place - even when they proved to be a bit rubbish in skilled hands, or useless for beginners.
My own disappointment with this chart is that it leaves out many of my favourite boards - but I guess a lot of people will feel that too.
Most of us will also not want to go back to any of the more popular or 'best' boards listed here, because board shares have moved on so much. Who would want any Mistral board now?
So this list is mostly about nostalgia.
There is not a single board on there which I would like to own now. (OK, except maybe the Starboard Hypersonic, or the JP freestyle board, hahah. )
if you want to talk to which boardS were ahead of their time, then that's a different discussion.
